Geez, now we have to worship Beyonce?
It appears that if you didn't like Beyonce's performance, for whatever reason, you are now the object of ridicule and scorn around here.
Why? People have different tastes in music and performance. Some people like her work, some don't. Why can't you just accept that not everybody was impressed with her and leave it at that? Why the endless posts poking fun at people who didn't like the show? I didn't see this sort of ridicule when people didn't like other Super Bowl performers, why the sudden outpouring of derision over those who didn't like Beyonce's performance? DU is turning into an ugly place at times, this is one of them.

Frankly what Beyonce is doing is pretty much a repeat of acts gone by, just as acts like Gaga are retreads as well. Thus, her act isn't new or daring, it just comes across as "meh".

15. Everyone is a repeat of acts gone by. Vocally, how much more can you achieve?
She is a great singer who works 24/7 during concert season performing 2 hours a night 7 days a week, WHILE dancing AND raising a family. She is scandal free and a role model & humanitarian. Again, vocally how much more is possible? She has NUMEROUS hit songs and she worked her way to the top.

27. A great singer, no.
Middling at best. There are many, many singers with much more talent that she has, but they don't get the exposure due to the crushing inanity and conformity of the music business. Her dancing is likewise middling at best.
Nice she is raising a family while working, something that many single mothers accomplish as well, on far less money than she makes and with far less support than she has. Lots of performers have had hit songs, so what. Having a hit song doesn't automatically make you a great talent. It simply means you can sell your act real well, and got some breaks along the way. |

32. But how many singers work as hard as she does? Working 7 days a week for months across the globe
really takes a toll, physically & mentally. I agree there are MANY many many great and talented singers out there and she liek the rest of them started at the bottom and worked her way up. Definitely commendable. And you're right, having A hit song doesn't automatically make you a great talent, but she's had about 20 hit songs. It's hard to find a singer or band with that many hit songs who aren't considered a great talent. Beatles, Elvis, etc. They've all had MANY hit songs.

35. Lots of singers and performers have worked as hard or harder than she does,
Performing publicly is a grueling profession.
And having multiple hit songs doesn't automatically make her a great talent either. It simply means that she has worked hard, attended to the business side of her art, gotten some lucky breaks, and is willing to work within the confines of the music industry, stifling as it is. There are many great talents out there, both modern and in the past, who are far better than she is. They simply haven't gotten the breaks she has, or sold their souls to the music industry. |

and not make EVERY SINGLE ONE into an ass shaking nearly naked bad stripper act. I would also expect women in the music biz to actually have some modicum of class and not sell their soul to the female musical porn the music biz has decided women in the music industry should be. Every damn one is a cookie cutter of every other one... even the ass shaking, hip grinding, crotch grabbing choreography is all the same. An actual entertainer does their OWN shtick, wears clothes that aren't designed for a hot night in the bedroom, get to decide for themselves what their costumes should be, and it doesn't matter how attractive they are or if they have a perfect body or not... you know, like the MEN in the music industry get to do.
Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Aretha Franklin, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, Ann and Nancy Wilson, Annie Haslam, and on and on and on... they weren't doing the waltz, and they sure as shit wouldn't be doing it today. If the utter crappy cookie cutter "talent" that passes for what women in the music industry today is considered good or appropriate it just goes to show how very little women are thought of generally anymore... just a bunch of bump and grind T&A. |

19. Not so much generational as a matter of personal taste -
- my 20 and 25 year old's aren't huge fans and weren't impressed. Son likes Destiny's Child but isn't a big fan of Beyonce as a solo act. I do enjoy good vocalists but don't consider her to be one. I see her more as a Britney Spears clone - short on vocals but a good performer.
With all the background singers and dancers, glitz, and lights, her vocal shortcomings aren't nearly as obvious. You can always tell who is truly talented by counting the number of people on stage with them. Less people = more talent. |

she is far more talented than Britney Spears. Spears uses vocal harmonizers to make her sound like she could sing. Spears could never belt out a tune like Beyonce acapella:

Look, people have individual tastes in music and musical performances. Some like what she does, some don't. Why can't people accept that and move on without rancor?
For me, and I suspect most people, it has nothing to do with what she was wearing. After all, it isn't like her outfit isn't something we've seen before, women in music were dressing like that a generation ago. Hell, she had on more clothes that the cheerleaders. It is simply that many people, myself included, don't find her music or talent to be that impressive. Deal with it and move on. |

63. I am a huge John Denver fan from the first hit continuing til today
actually even before Country Roads, though at that time, I didn't realize that was him singing with the Chad Mitchell trio.
He needs to get revitalized in a big way. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It still annoys me greatly that when they recorded the We are the World, they SPECIFICALLY left John Denver out because he wasn't cool enough or relevant. HUH????????? NOT relevant enough? Him and Harry Chapin were doing great stuff for decades before anyone ever heard of We are the world, and (Harry already died) but John was there, and he wasn't freakin' relative to world hunger? URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH He should have been leading the whole thing. (dang you had to get me started) not to mention he was one of the greatest environmentalists there was in the nation (long before Al Gore btw) Calypso by John Denver <iframe width="640" height="360" src="?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

31. Why do you care what people on the internet think?
People disagree with me all the time here. I think Hugo Chavez is sicker than his cronies are admitting, and I get lots of pushback for that opinion.
A difference of opinion shouldn't make you upset or tearful. It's just The Internet. Ho hum! So someone doesn't agree with you about Beyonce~! So what? I thought she did just fine, I thought her performance was peppy and fun. I won't "dis" you if you didn't like it, though--each to their own. It's not like either one of us paid to get into the show, anyway... |

Without Bach, Piaf, Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby, there would be NO pop music
did you think that life began with Duran Duran? The greats like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Lana Del Rey are all retreads. Of Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland and Aretha Franklin. the young think music was invented in 1980 or 1990. I think it's funny Bach Beethoven Brahams, ever hear of Irving Gillette or Billy Murray (not the actor?) They had about 300 hits you know. Life didn't begin with the Sex Pistols and anyone that plays the piano is copying Bach including Elton John and why not? That is what piano players learn when they are kids. Guess some think music started with Bon Jovi. You know Dancing in the Dark? No, not the Bruce Version. the 1929 version sung by Bing Crosby silly. Now, I would love Edith Piaf and Bing Crosby to be the halftime entertainment, (I was lucky enough to see Bing sing in person twice, plus a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at City Hall shortly before he died where he sang White Christmas.) pitch perfect. |

She really has little talent other than her well choreographed dance talent. I felt the same about Brittney Spears. It is sad that people are not allowed to have there own opinion of talent these days. Whitney Houston could of pulled that off in the same attire and the attraction would of been off her clothing and more on her performace.
