Teacher Calls Michelle Obama a Big Fat Gorilla

School district officials are investigating allegations that a Lauderdale County High School teacher made slurs in the presence of students regarding first lady Michelle Obama and gays. Superintendent Jennifer Gray confirmed the investigation concerns the school’s head football coach, Bob Grisham, who also teaches driver’s education and psychology.

The investigation includes a 1-minute, 24-second audiotape of Grisham asking who knows who is behind the 600-calorie school lunch.

It's Alabama. If there's a "teachers union" I doubt that it's a "union" as most of the rest of the country understands the word.

that he says something like, "You can tell the administration, I don't care" which indicates that this sort of thing has probably happened before which means administration let it slide. I can't imagine a school allowing a teacher to slide on something like this. Besides, the illiteracy alone should get his ass canned.

4. Teacher-coaches can be a tricky proposition.

I had some good ones in high school. Then there were the ones like my 8th grade history teacher. He came in every morning, handed out busy work, and then sat at his desk eating donuts and drinking coffee. The only time he ever taught was when someone from the district office came in to do assessments. I have never learned less from a teacher.

I have a feeling Coach Grisham spends most of his psychology class enjoying his coffee and donuts.

21. History deserves better than a football coach who doesn't know it teaching it.

But that's our schools today. Get them loaded up on reading and math so they can pass meaningless tests and devalue science, history and in many cases dump art and music all together. We've spent a decade dumbing down kids everywhere. America's suffering with less educated adults than at any point since kids had to leave middle school to work the fields. This is a John Steinbeck reality we're heading towards.

25. In high school I had the football coach for science. All the football players took his class and

they were the only students he paid any attention too, he spent his time joking with and pulling pranks with them. The rest of us spent out time doing busy work like freezing test tubes of gnats and then counting them ... seriously that's what we did day after day after day, month after month. Yeah, I really got a lot from that required to graduate class, not.
