Romney Approves Ads Without Watching or Hearing Them
By Josh Israel
In last nights GOP debate, Newt Gingrich slammed Mitt Romney for a Romney campaign ad which accuses the former Speaker of calling Spanish the language of the ghetto. Romney, whose voice appears in that radio spot taking responsibility for its content, responded that he does not review his own ads before they air.
Gingrich was referring to a Spanish-language Romney ad called Hechos.
Romney told Gingrich, I havent seen the ad, so Im sorry. I dont get to see all the TV ads. Later, Romney said, I doubt thats my ad. But well take a look and find out.
Watch it:
But Romneys voice appears at the end of Hechos, saying, Soy Mitt Romney and apruebo este mensaje. In the language both candidates want to make the sole language of the U.S government, this translates to, Im Mitt Romney and I approve this message.
But apparently, Romney wasnt even being truthful when he said that.

OP
I am sure this is true of all candidates - they are pressing flesh, not reviewing film

(8,556 posts)2. Probably standard stuff, especially the more ads you have
If you spend the money on it, you're probably not going to want to just shelve it. These politicians aren't directors or video editors. They have to delegate this kind of thing to others and hope for the best.

(37,158 posts)3. Well, hell, Ron Paul claims he spent years not even looking at his own newsletters...
I still regard the "I defrauded my subscribers for years on end" defense the gold standard for "I didn't do it"-ism.
And with Paul, it really is a gold standard. He insists on it.
