Excuse the shouting, but...

We have heard a lot of talk on TV and between the candidates about Newt's troubled speakership, and why he left congress and all of that. And the discussion seems to be held in some Stalinist edited history mode.

And then there was welfare reform... and some job-training thing... oh, and we balanced the budget... I think that covers the 1990s...

What is with all these hazy trips down memory lane about what Republicans in the House of Representatives were up to 1994-1998 that somehow omit THE BIGGEST NEWS STORY IN THE WORLD, WHICH WAS SOLELY THE WORK OF THE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS IN THE HOUSE?

The reason republicans lost 8 seats in the 1998 mid-term election where they should have gained seats was because
[font size=4]THEY IMPEACHED THE FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED GODDAMNED STATES AND IT BLEW UP IN THEIR FACE![/font size]

Whew. I feel somewhat better now.
