(17,505 posts)But Tx has more than Tex-mex restaurants.
There's a huge collection of modern art(!) in Dallas.... but it's so American to just ignore art.
Then, for the not-so-artsy-fartsy there's plenty of sports that does not involve guns.

(47,953 posts)I just put that in there for the snark. Texas has a lot of neat things. It also has a whole lot of insane idiots who seem to have intimidated the sane people and who run everything. And they have ruined the place.

(28,246 posts)The demographic trends are out there, for anyone to see. The conservative, white, rural, male base is shrinking, dying off. Texas is approaching purple, and eventually will go to blue. Obama got 3.3 million votes in 2012, and carried just about all of the big urban areas: Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin. End of sermonette.....

(10,494 posts)for what America would look like under complete Republican rule. Lowest paying jobs, one of the lowest for health insurance, single moms, high numbers of welfare, tort reform to the point that you cannot sue doctors for malpractice... Like the Dixie Chicks, I am ashamed of my state government. When Tom Delay engineered a mid-decade re-districting, he sentenced the Progressive Texans to long term life under complete Republican rule. Hell, it must be bad b/c America now knows that we have a stupid idiot that masses of other idiots keep electing Governor! He has got to be the luckiest, stupid idiot in the world. Been in public service his whole life and became rich to boot! It's easy when supporters sell you expensive land, dirt cheap, and then have another supporter buy it from you for way more than its worth.

(20,219 posts)Yeah, it's got the same kind of power as the brilliant original. But it's also different enough to have its own power.
Just really moving. Love the line quality too--a bit angular and choppy coloring style that i always like but cant do. I'm artistic myself, but my talentuh runs in a different vein, not so much illustration.. His work is just so well done....
