The teaparty takeover of the Republicans is complete. The fiscal fight and Sandy hook tragedy provided clear examples of who is incharge of that mental asylum masquerading as a political party.
If you are sane republican your options are
1) Fight the good fight within your own party
2) Form a third party
3) Become a Democrat ( follow Charlie Christ)
I really wish they follow 2 ... else we will begin to see instability in our own ranks if too many of the rats jump on to our ship.

(13,305 posts)After all history tells us that if they do that Democrats in leadership positions will wine and dine them and woo them like crazy, even if that means punching the hippie wing of their party just to make them happy.

(19,474 posts)do it in two stages. First they become independents. Then they switch to the other party.
So perhaps the current growth in the number of independents is partly due to moderate Republicans going through that process.
