Six rules for criticizing Obama over Social Security (SATIRE)

maybe this should be pinned to the top of GD, I'll let the hosts make that decision.

Six Rules for Criticizing Obama Over Social Security Cuts

These are confusing times for liberals. They’ve just awoken from a seven-week bender to discover that their number one sacred cow – President Obama – wants to take a butcher’s knife to sacred cow # 2, Social Security. Libs are feeling angry, betrayed, and sputtery. They want to hold Obama’s feet to the fire but aren’t sure how to do so in a way that reassures Obama that they will always have his back.

Thankfully, liberals themselves have developed – and relentlessly enforced – a number of rules about whether, when, and how it’s acceptable to criticize Obama. Libs love rules almost as much as they love their rulers so hopefully this will help them get through these troubling times.

"I'd literally trust his judgment over my own. I think he's smarter than me, better informed, better able to understand the consequences of his actions, and more farsighted. I voted for him because I trust his judgment, and I still do." – Kevin Drum, Mother Jones

Why does Obama want to want to cut Social Security? We don’t know but the fact remains that we are not privy to everything that Obama knows – and we probably couldn’t understand it if we were. Maybe Obama is banking on the fact by the Post Office will be closed by the time the cuts take effect so there won’t be anyone to deliver benefit checks. Maybe he realizes that shit will be so fucked up from climate collapse that no will live to see sixty-five in the coming years.

Bottom line: Obama knows what he’s doing so STFU.

That is absolutely perfect and hilarious.
You can see the rules earnestly applied, all over the place.

Was it mentioned that if you crticize Obama you are then a hater?
And we complained that if we criticized Bush the rightnutters called us unpatriotic?
The more things change, the more they remain the same.

You have more access to information, upon which to make decisions, than President Obama?

Do you really believe that anyone on this board is better able to analyze and apply that information than President Obama?

Do you really believe there are more than a very few people at DU that are smarter than President Obama?

Do you really believe President Obama wants the elderly and/or vulnerable citizens to be reduced to eating cat-food?

Just in case you missed that. I can't tell if you noticed it was satire or not by your post.

if you want to express faith then go to church.

If you want to cheer on your team, get your sports on.

If you want to have trust then bestow it on friends and family.

I think those things have little if any place in politics.

I believe that to a large extent the public should have access to the same information in general, on this issue it should be complete. This is not sensitive military or clandestine information, there should be nothing we don't know and if we don't the people should be informed.

Obama is a lawyer, I know of nothing special in his background that would indicate any superior ability or training to grasp these issues.

I believe that folks like Dick Cheney are above average IQ as well, it garners no special license to me, I don't follow the point. An IQ of 300 needs checks on them and to answer tough questions and Obama is nowhere near that, nor is probably anyone. Smart guy but no super genius beyond common perception, IQ is probably in the area of 140.

I know he keeps finding ways to put benefits on the cutting table, I think he wants to keep the people off the barricades while still pushing ahead with the global, corporate agenda but isn't a hamfisted or stupid man who has no concern if the pot boils over and knows if chaos kicks in it tends to spread and profits suffer.

I think he cares about the same as Poppy Bush or Bob Dole about what old folks have to eat. Catfood may not be the aim but day in and day out beans or oatmeal is probably just fine. Peas for sure.

'know more than us'.

that's a theocracy or a fascist state, not a democracy.

the journalist at Mother Freaking Jones?

I hope he got a lot of shit for that, because it was ridiculous:

"I'd literally trust his judgment over my own. I think he's smarter than me, better informed, better able to understand the consequences of his actions, and more farsighted. I voted for him because I trust his judgment, and I still do." – Kevin Drum, Mother Jones

A question to ask Drum or anyone else, what is this extraordinary level of trust based on? Obama is relatively new on the scene, ten years ago Drum never heard of him.
