A way out of the "Fiscal Cliff" hostage crisis?

The Republicans are essentially threatening to kill and injure large numbers of people if they don't get their ransom in the form of payoffs for the super-wealthy.

People are likely to suffer and die in the short term if the Democrats don't give in.

Many more people are going to suffer and die if the Democrats do give in and allow permanent damage to the safety net. Furthermore, the tantruming monsters on the other side will have proved once again that hostage-taking works.

I think those of us who are of good will and have some means to do so need to help our less fortunate brethren rappel the Fiscal Cliff, thereby escaping from their captors and denying them their victory. I'm willing to contribute to that effort, but am in no position to organize it.

I call upon the unions and the occupiers to organize a short-term NGO welfare scheme to keep those most desperately in need from hitting the grond at full velocity, and call upon all of us to contribute to the effort.

$100+ Billion per year of our tax dollars goes to corporate welfare. Oil & gas companies - already raking in record profits - are getting $4 Billion per year that even their CEOs say they don't need!!!
