a Happy whatever. Hanukkah, Festivus, Christmas... and I would assume that if someone from a non-Christian faith wished me a Merry Christmas, they were just being friendly and considerate of my faith's holiday.

I have NO patience with busy bodies who tell others what they should or shouldn't say. I'm not even Christian, and I don't mind hearing Merry Christmas. Just don't ask ME to say it!

Where are all these mythical people who are offended by hearing the word Christmas? Has there ever been a verified sighting of one?

...in the American melting pot. But when it comes to our own, we can't see the forest for the trees.

For those who might think it's because we know firsthand how awful fundamentalist Christians are, I say we have a pretty good idea that some Muslims and Islamists are much worse.

So from this non-believer to the Christians: Merry Christmas!

But for DUers who flinch at the thought of 'giving in' to a religious holiday in any way, I also say...yawn.

They are theistic greetings. No big deal.

Seasons Greetings works too. Entirely non theistic.

The "war on Christmas" is a fabrication of Christian dominionists, attempting to portray the dominant culture as a victim of persecution. The issue of public space misuse is however not a fabrication.

The right wing always decries being "PC" but they are the ones getting their knickers in a twist most often.

when someone says Merry Christmas, especially to a Christian? There are lots of stories told by RWers about "people" who don't think anyone should say Merry Christmas, but I've never seen them produce any of these mysterious "people".

And when told Merry Christmas I've either replied Merry Christmas or you too. I do think for the most part this whole war on Christmas is fabricated. In fact, I've even seen three public displays of nativities. Fox would have you believe that non Christians would never stand for such a thing, but there they are none the less. I myself feel that Happy Holidays is more respectful because you are including all the holidays. I don't see why some Christians find it so offensive when people don't bring special attention to their holiday over all others, but I really don't see a war on Christmas going on.

& they say Merry Christmas to me. Never thought that would make me Jewish or them Christians.

Never saw a problem with saying "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings." They're all inclusive.
