They realy like Red Lobster but I know that situation.

(146,286 posts)My parents are 88 years old, and they have very few restaurants they like. If I'm buying a gift certificate for them, or taking them out to eat, as I will be over the Christmas holidays, I ask them where they'd like to go, and I take them there. Sometimes, it's to a very good family-owned Mexican restaurant in the next town, and sometimes it's to Red Lobster. They like it. I don't. For me, at their age, it is their likes and dislikes I take into consideration first. But I always ask them where they'd like to go, and then I take them there.
People work at every restaurant, and need those jobs. Yes, I think the owners of Red Lobster suck, politically, but it will not be the owners serving my parents, cooking their food, or busing their table. It will be regular people working for a living, and working very hard for that living. I'll make sure to leave them an excellent tip for their service, wherever I take my parents.
Sometimes, things transcend politics.

(11,606 posts)Usually here in the Northeast they are all over. Usually Greek in ownership. Lots of choices on the menu and large generous portions. Moderate priced and all local ownership.
Then again I'm not a fancy guy. Simple pleasures.
