Wakarimaska. Hai

In So. Cal. one must get gender right. Pendejo or Pendeja.
Even insults are educational. I find those better than my English ones I've overused on chump.

My very little Japanese is 50 years on from being stationed there for a year.

I tried taking Spanish before that, but the audio cassettes got too fast for me to comprehend.

Written Japanese was a pain for me, plus the need to learn formality as well? Not the greatest combination, but at least I could comprehend the audio.

These lazy language limited Karens are terrified others are talking about them. They can’t even STFU for a graduation.

We moved from NJ to NC and the day we moved in we had a new bed delivered and the delivery guys were assembling it. They were apparently asking me things like where do I want the bed placed, etc., but I couldn't understand a word they were saying.

when we were in the US Upland South a few years ago. He speaks 5+ languages (including English fluently) yet my Okie sister-in-law insisted on pantomiming and very slowing enunciating: “Do you understand anythang we are saying?” Bless her heart.

lol... Well, the usher should apologize to that family... I am so sick of the Trump impacts on even otherwise ordinary events... Maybe this person would have been an a'hole on their own, but I'm betting the anti-immigrant messages constantly being sent by and to MAGA, are at play.

several levels. First, it isn't the original language of this country (see Indigenous peoples). Second, many different languages were/are spoken by those who came here. Third, in many places, it is expected and understood that an educated person can speak several languages. And, of course, therein lies the rub. The "english only" morans (sp intentional) hate the educated. Fourth, many of these "english only" types can neither speak, read, nor write their language at all well.

I grew up in the military, and I have gone to school with, and worked with people from all over the world, so I am accustomed to hearing many different languages. These little snowflakes need to grow up, and learn some manners.

"Speak English in America" - a name given to two continents in honor of (checks notes) Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian explorer from the 15th century, employed by Spain to conquer new lands for their empire. Spanish has been spoken here for (checks notes) about 600 years.

The British didn't wander into this territory until hundreds of years later, brought by a Dutch venture capital company. New York City was originally New Amsterdam.

As recently as the 19th century there were serious efforts to make German the official language of the United States because so many "Americans" were (and are) of German descent.

Not to mention the many Irish, Italian, Polish, Scandinavian, etc., immigrants, all speaking their own languages.

NOT TO MENTION that we're all descendants of immigrants unless our ancestors were indigenous, and even they came from somewhere else.

And this cretin wants people to speak English? Which type of English?
