Charles Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 counts, including tax evasion and witness tampering, in 2005. He served two years in prison after receiving a plea deal. In December 2020, then-President Donald Trump pardoned Kushner, clearing his conviction for tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations.

(4,870 posts)Christie was advising Trump after the 2016 election for a short time; IIRC he was in charge of the transition, before being unceremoniously dumped. It's assumed that was done at Jared's request. Trump eventually pardoned Charles Kushner.

(38,922 posts)The Senate backed Kushner 51 to 45. Senator Cory Booker, who represents Kushner's home state of New Jersey, was the only Democrat to vote along with Trump's fellow Republicans in favor of the nomination. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the only Republican who opposed it...
One Democratic senator voted for him.
