JUST IN: The Senate voted 52–46 to advance Donald Trump’s nomination of Charles Kushner, Jared Kushner’s father, to serve as U.S. Ambassador to France and Monaco. Lisa Murkowski was the only Republican senator to vote against it. Democratic Senator Cory Booker was the only Democrat to vote yes.

Charles Kushner was convicted of tax evasion, witness tampering, and making illegal campaign contributions. Trump pardoned him in the final weeks of his first term

Charles Kushner pleaded guilty to 18 counts, including tax evasion and witness tampering, in 2005. He served two years in prison after receiving a plea deal. In December 2020, then-President Donald Trump pardoned Kushner, clearing his conviction for tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations.

Christie was advising Trump after the 2016 election for a short time; IIRC he was in charge of the transition, before being unceremoniously dumped. It's assumed that was done at Jared's request. Trump eventually pardoned Charles Kushner.

I guess there's no longer any doubt where some, or all, of that $2 billion in Saudi money that Jared scored went.

WASHINGTON, May 19 (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Monday confirmed Charles Kushner, father of President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and the recipient of a presidential pardon after his conviction for witness tampering and tax evasion, to be ambassador to France.

The Senate backed Kushner 51 to 45. Senator Cory Booker, who represents Kushner's home state of New Jersey, was the only Democrat to vote along with Trump's fellow Republicans in favor of the nomination. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska was the only Republican who opposed it...

One Democratic senator voted for him.
