A thought about gun control:

What if we treated civilian arms in a similar manner to prescription drugs? Instead of banning specific features, all guns would need to go through a review process before being approved for sale or use in this country. If a specific weapon was too deadly, it would "fail", and not be allowed. Also, in order for a person to buy a gun, they would need to get a permit for the specific weapon they seek.

If its an design approved for general civilian use, permits would seem to be unneeded.
