Doing an 8 hour job in a Trump house today

Last edited Sat Apr 19, 2025, 09:58 AM - Edit history (1)

Fox News on three TVs, and I’ll be here all day.

Give me strength.

Edited to add: Plot twist! Prominently displayed in their basement living room is a certificate commemorating their attendance at Obama’s 2009 inauguration.

No cooincidence at all, those are the ones most likely to have behavioral disturbances. It is useful in the sense that it becomes obvious exactly how and why those people become obsessed with outsized, frankly unhinged and irrational “threats” and burning, venemous, murderous hate for Democrats and liberal Americans.

At least I can leave the room when I’m done. I’m grateful for that. Best of luck to you.

If a house has CNN or MSN on, it’s background noise while the residents live their lives. If the house has Fox on? At least one resident is sitting motionless and slack-jawed in front of the tv, sucking down the lies and hate as fast as they can.

When I’ve described this on DU before, I’ve been scolded because statistics or whatever don’t bear this out, that Fox doesn’t have the viewership to match such stories, yet I see it in at least three or four homes a week, every week.

Current customer hasn’t moved from his chair in two hours.

And before anyone wags their finger at me for being on DU while on the job, it’s a flat-rate job that involves multiple system updates during which I can do nothing but wait.

Unless TVs have a hidden camera that focuses on the viewer.

If someone surveyed Fox and other viewers about whether they concentrated on the tv vs lived their lives, who would admit they sat idly in front of the tv all day?

(Proudly admitting to being glued sometimes but also multitasking at other times)

Both because they remind me how thoroughly brainwashed theses people are, and also how relentlessly poisonous the Fox rhetoric is. They’re in nonstop panic mode at all times, urgently reporting on things that Biden did four years ago, or on the latest horror some trans kid committed simply by existing.

I don’t know what it’ll take to free these people from their cultish programming, but I’m pretty sure that it can’t be done by force. They need to see the grotesque ugliness of their thinking for themselves before they can be freed from it.

98% of her tv time is Fox.

She was a Fox junkie even before the dementia.

My customer was entirely pleasant and polite, but after he greeted me at the door, he returned to his chair and did nothing but watch Fox until about 20 minutes ago when I had to show him how part of the new system works. Then right back to his chair.

To be fair, I must acknowledge that he stood up to let the dog out/in at least once.

In case anyone is wondering, I never talk politics with trumper customers. Not once, not ever.

But if they’re unmistakably left or are outside my white cis male demographic, I’ll make an effort to show where I stand, if only so that they don’t worry that a Trump cultist is working in their basement for a few hours.

But very few books. Usually seniors have 3-4 boxes of books to move but the fox viewers none barely and they’re unread right wing books. One senior community used to have fox on in the communal room and the residents used to scrabble with each other. Someone took off fox and a couple months later the resident manager said she noticed there were few if any scrabbles among the residents.

assess my patients.

Weirdly enough some of the magas are so nice and sweet I would have never guessed they could be brainwashed like this.
One elderly couple adopted black children who are now adults and doing well and love their adopted white maga parents. I'm thinking maybe a lot of the racist things trump says and does doesn't make it to fox news?

They will probably blame President Biden when they lose their social security.

The brainwashing is insane. Just makes me want to cry. I cannot hate these people.
