(3,729 posts)What's the point of a post like this? It's like reading a text from someone you don't know!

(243 posts)For me, a post like this lets me know about something I might want to look into later. I may seek out a video clip or transcript to get the full story.

(21,977 posts)We don't want to just win an argument, or persuade the public to adopt our policies. No. We want to "beat up" our opponents. Bloody 'em up a bit. Shall we just use fists, or should we use brass knuckles? Let's use the knucks. They inflict more damage. Break some facial bones. Really fuck 'em up good.
And this post came from someone who wants to ban guns?
I started to point out the hypocrisy, but then it occurred to me that the poster doesn't want to KILL the opponent, he/she just wants to bloody them, maim them, disfigure them. And that's so much better.

(272 posts)... fewer homicides and other crimes, with many criminals saying they were less likely to rob or enter a home where they knew there were guns. This professor basically scoffed, saying essentially the opposite was true where there was good data, and one of his points was that there needs to be much better data on guns, since current data is so insufficient in so many places. Data collection on guns is one of the things he wants Obama to push for.

Then they pop up somewhere else, and start in again repeating the same debunked NRA Talking Points.
It's like playing wack-a-mole.
