I have spent the last hour trying to post this. We have had power fluctuations since Monday. I am in Minnesota. We get power from the north. I suspect that this is the beginning of what is going to happen to us now that we have decided to burn our bridges with our Canadian neighbors.
I just heard a transformer blow somewhere near by. But, the power did not fluctuate. This is going to disrupt the entire northern part of the country. Since that orange gibbon has a vendetta against this state thanks t its governor constantly pushing against him, not to mention the fact that he also ran against the orange gibbon, which in that deranged mind is grounds for death.
We up here may not be able to post much if this is part and parcel to the growing situation. Every time the power flickers, it knocks out our internet. I have to go reset it. It has happened four times since yesterday.
Who knows, maybe this will get some attention and maybe we can get some action over this. But, I doubt it, as long as those in power have what they want, who cares about the rest? I doubt we will be having any more elections anyway. Something will happen and they will demand martial law and they will suspend elections in the name of 'security' until we no longer have them at all.
Go ahead, call me an alarmist. All I have to say is this. I have no issue with admitting that I was wrong in this cases. I hope I am wrong. I will be glad when I am, to be honest.
What will you do when I am proved right?

(7,705 posts)Except, I do not think that this is our power companies trying to juggle consumption. I think that this is the supplier making sure we understand what is at stake.
Which we don't... yet. But, we soon will...

(7,705 posts)I would also point out that I have lived here for eight and a half years, and the only time we ever had a power issue is when the old cables in the ground broke under the collapsing strata and they had to come out and dig the things up and install a whole new box in our house. It has never flickered before, even during bad storms. These last few days it has acted up more than it has ever done.

(137 posts)You could always secede to Canada. We like you guys and Governor Walz. I think our PM would consider it a good opportunity. Maybe any state who are Democratic should consider it, since Canada is the living embodiment of Democratic ideals?

(7,705 posts)The issue is that the power did not 'go out', it flickered, which tripped everything but basically made the backup start beeping because it was trying to connect to help out but the power was back on by the time it started to make the attempt. (It is an old system.) So, I have had to reset everything every time it happens.
The owner is one of those people who just loves to connect all kinds of crap to the house. The freaking thermostat is connected to the internet and give weather updates. So, when that kind of thing happens, the entire house loses its shit. And, it was happening over and over and over.

Trump will have learned from Hitler so it will be all over quickly.
My first ancestor came from England nearly 400 years ago. I never would have thought when I retired 10 years ago that my generation would be the last to live in a free America.

Our power comes from Canada.
So does a lot of county revenue.

(7,310 posts)"we" did not burn our bridges with Canada. This administration did that. I did not vote for any of them and intend to place the blame where it belongs. We the people did not do this, that implies that it was all fair and above board and we know it was not.

(2,969 posts)by the Trump tariffs and the justifiable Canadian response, can form a consortium with states less affected to the benefit of those states suffering the most.
When Cuomo was NY gov. he did just this kind of coalition forming during Covid to get PPE and other emergency equipment like ventilators to states in need.
The forming of a coalition of northern border states and other states hit hard by the tariffs may be part of what's needed to fight/survive the current regime.
In the meantime, we will have the immediate problem of power outages and that needs a quicker solution, which I very much hope is in the offing, for your sake in Minnesota and for all of us down the road.
