It is impossible that the Republicans can't see what is happening.

No doubt they are being bombarded with phone calls and messages. I would find it hard to believe that they are all thrilled at the destruction that is taking place. If they would cooperate with Democrats, Trump could be removed from office via impeachment. If Vance continued to defy the law, he could also be impeached. This is the remedy for tyrannical rule.

If they are being threatened, or if they feel they are without a choice, why even stay in office? It cannot be very satisfying to know that you are facilitating the destruction of democracy.

I do NOT believe that Trump has high approval ratings. That is propaganda.

Two years is too long to wait for change. Who knows if there will still be elections in 2026?

It is so disappointing that in my supposed "golden years" I have to do it again. They want to alter the taxpayers’ revenue stream so that the money gets diverted from the Treasury and into THEIR POCKETS. It’s been their plan for decades. The plan is nothing new. What IS new is that 50% of the country got bamboozled into believing that no harm will come to them because… Trump. And they all believe that Trump’s lies will not be consequential for them. They’re in for a big surprise. But when the light bulb goes off in their heads, it will be too late.

We are tired, and don't have the energy of youth, and a few have medical limitations. But here we are.

I share your sentiment. If I go out while trying to save Democracy...it will be a worthy cause.

I am full on doing what I can for the resistance. I can't make it to D.C. But I am calling and emailing....incessantly.

I have taken on a mission of fact checking and sharing crucial information on social media. (I was going to leave the platform provided by the Z guy, but decided to use it for good, instead.) I'm flooding that zone.

I have an idea for getting information out via billboards, that reference a website with the facts of what is happening (we need to counter the message on RW media). But it requires building the infrastructure, and right now we are all trying to respond to the blitzkrieg.

I am donating to Public Citizen, Democracy Defenders, Democracy Docket, etc. I am donating to media outlets, such as Wired.

It's exhausting, but that is why this was styled as a take over and blitzkrieg...and flooding of the zone.

I told Mr. Dahlia I may have to give up my sanity, in order to stand up for Democracy. He said - what about his sanity?

I am glad DU is here to keep us all connected and united.

They will not. They have already walked the plank too far. There is no path for retreat.

Moreover, there simply aren't many "reasonable Republicans" left. Most have been replaced with MAGA people, or else have willingly capitulated.

They have to be destroyed. Of course, we should leave the door to safety open if a few Republicans want to do the right thing. But a strategy of reasoning with them is foolish. There is no time for that. They have had 25 years to try to meet us in good faith.

No matter what bullshit he “declares” on Truth Social.

If anything the Trumpers would be the ones likely to stay home causing an even bigger Democratic rout.

The reforms signed by President Biden make monkeying around with the electoral vote certification more difficult, but that is not even related to the coming midterms where Democrats are incredibly likely to win the House.

Some folks just love their doom and gloom.

Do you do not believe that Trump would attempt to shut down or overturn elections? Really? After everything we have seen? What do you think January 6th was about?

Do you not believe that if Trump did attempt to shut down or overturn elections it would take very extreme measures to stop him?

Have judicial, electoral, or legislative solutions worked so far? Vance and Musk are now saying that the judiciary has no power over Trump. Do you think they are bluffing?

Has Trump shown any inclination to moderate his behavior? Has he experienced any serious loss of support?

Trump doesn’t have anything to do with states running their elections? Trump doesn’t have anything to do with the authorization of funding by Congress, either. What happened to that guardrail?

I think of it an epidemic. Instead of making people physically ill by attacking the lungs it's been making people mentally ill by attacking people's perception of liberalism and the government. And on a national scale. Why there hasn't been an effort to combat this with an urgency and on a scale of the response to Covid, I'll never understand considering the damage it's done.

She's conservative, but not MAGA. she finally switched to unaffiliated within the last year or so. I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out whether or not there is even one reasonable republican left in congress, and the answer is no. even if they are, they are afraid.

I think it's beyond being afraid of losing their next election, it's much more existential. They are afraid that magats will destroy their personal lives. they may even be literally afraid of being killed. TCFSF wants so so much to be putin. We all know how fond putin is of having his "enemies" (most of us would call them adversaries) defenestrated or poisoned, imprisoned, beaten and tortured to death.

both of my senators are republicans and I do call thom tillis on a regular basis. i think budd is a magat to the core so, even though calling tillis may seem like a waste of time, I do it anyway hoping that 1000s of others are doing the same. I tell him that this is his chance to stand up for the USA and be great. I asked him the last time whether his fingers were crossed or he was laughing to himself the last time he took his oath of office.

If Democrats could get a few republicans with the courage to stand up for this country, they could make an impeachment stick. they could get a meeting with TCFSF and tell him you either kick elon to the curb or you will be impeached and convicted. They could turn this shit around. but they won't. i think for many if not most, they don't care about democracy, they love this. Others who do, they're scared, craven, and feckless.

we are screwed.
