My small town in NJ went for Trump last November.

A sizable demographic of the voters are Muslim-Americans and they voted en masse.

During the primaries in June, 2024, they voted against their congressional representative, Bill Pascrell, Jr., (who has been their staunch supporter), in favor of a challenger, because he was Muslim and he was very critical of the situation in Gaza. The challenger lost.

Back to November. I don't believe that this group was overly familiar with the issues that were inherent with voting for Trump. They were voting against Biden.

And in voting for Trump, this is what our town is going to get: deep cuts (if not full elimination of) federal funds for our schools. Because Trump & Co. are going to eradicate the Department of Education. And with the loss of those federal funds, our town will need to raise property taxes. And with the increase of property taxes, renters will be looking at hefty increases of their renters. (BTW, our town is mostly absentee landlords.)

Bet they didn't see that coming. Unfortunately, I did.

They might be allowed to spend any allocation on a variety of questionable items,

Sorry, They knew.

They were also voting against migrants, women and themselves.

I’m sorry that your community will suffer, you should remind them that they choose to ignore
The Muslim travel ban and dragged VP Harris.

Putin, Trump and Netanyahu did a great job spreading lies,

I expect that Muslims will be the next target with internment camps for being terrorists.

These are American voters, Muslims, who witnessed the insanity and cruelty of Trump's very first act as president in 2017 when he banned any and all Muslims -- all over the world -- from entering the country, right? And they honestly thought that that same hateful, ignorant man would now work for Muslims because mumble mumble mumble Gaza?

I am sorry. Sorry for the non-Trumpers among the Muslim population of your town and for all Muslim Americans who didn't take the bait and vote for fascism.

8. NJ And A Lot of Blue States

Pay more into Federal coffers than Red states. So my guess is a typical NJ community will get far less in federal education money (if it actually comes back to the states) than they put in.

TBH, most rural areas don't seem to value education all that much. My guess is they'll let it slide and make do with less rather than raise property taxes. Additionally, "school choice" is less available in rural areas than urban; in my state, charter schools are mostly concentrated in the state's largest city.

But it's true, and it's really the only thing to say to single-issue voters. "I didn't sign on for this!" Yes, you did. We're the ones who didn't and now all of us are stuck with it.

If they couldn't vote for Harris as a "matter of principle" they ignored higher principles, along with a rational choice for their own best interests and those they ostensibly care about.

Includng my three sisters. All of whom, by the way, were big Hilary fans.

There was nothing secret about Trump's plans. If people thought they'd be exempt, sucks to be that stupid, I guess. Too bad, not sad. Suffer like the rest of us will do, those of us who tried to get a good president in charge.
