I do. One of the best in my lifetime.
************And before anyone responds, I know the message on his hat was photo shopped ***********
However it doesn't make me miss him any less.

(232,458 posts)And every time I feel angry and dejected about TFG and his buddy trying to subvert democracy, I think about how President Biden must feel. And Presidents Obama, Clinton - and Hillary, too! And I can't help being grateful that Jimmy Carter - who worked for diplomacy and aid throughout the world - can't witness what's going on now.

And he wants America first.

(232,458 posts)I'm feeling pretty desperate right now - but it helps to know I'm not alone.
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)Once again, wonderful statement!
Thank goodness I drink beer once a week, usually a Friday. So, at least I get one day of respite from that degenerate bloated lowlife in the Oval Office.

Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)I never really could quit totally. I'd bore myself to death! So I limit myself to one night at home and listen to music (yes, I take the volume to 11!) I figure by the time I'm 70ish I'll probably tone it down significantly. But, I'm never ever going to cut my hair!
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)And some people can drink safely, others cannot. I didn't drink in high school or college, but once I was working on a deadline job, I'd have a glass of wine after I got home and learned that one was never enough. I apparently have the "gene," and I've learned the only way to survive it is to give up drinking altogether - so I feel lucky. It took me awhile, but I'll have 16 sober years in April. And I've also met some good supportive friends.
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)of good supportive friends! I'm one of those people that always used to ask friends, "you know what the first beer tastes like?... another one!" So I retain, as I stated earlier, a little of my excitable youth by partaking once a week (when able). I love finding new bands and new music that I've never heard before on YouTube. Lately it's the Japanese phenomenon of all female Metal bands. They are so refreshing and incredible. Plus I'm a colossal goofball. I snap up instantly any opportunity to make someone laugh and smile.
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)Actually they're a pretty humorous lot, especially one guy I regularly see at meetings. He celebrated 51 years sober last month - at 84 - and he "keeps coming back" as they say.
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)My comfort food specialties include:
Texas style chili (absolutely no beans!) made with ground beef and roast beef chunks.
Beef Enchiladas. Gobs of cheese on top!
Jambalaya (from scratch, not any box stuff) made with 5 lbs. breakfast sausage, 5-6 lbs. smoked sausage, 10 lbs. pork tenderloin, 5-6 lbs. chicken and rice of course.
Steaks on the grill that will make your mouth water.
Slow cooked Beef Roast made with onions, potatoes and carrots (sometimes celery, depends on my mood)
I used to deep fry turkeys but, I don't have the equipment anymore.
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)Sober, they can appreciate it a lot more. Kudos, you sound like a marvelous (and popular) cook! When I was still in school, my grandmother spent the winter in Arizona and my Dad and I went to visit her on spring break. We traveled all over, including Mexico, and my Dad was horrified when I ordered enchiladas for breakfast!
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)I love Enchiladas for breakfast! I love cooking for lots of people. And when I start stuffing my face I'd rather have a Coke or sweet tea anyway to wash it all down. I also like trying local or regional soft drinks (soda, pop, etc.) whenever I have the chance. Damn, now all of a sudden I'm craving a Grape Nehi. Haven't had one of those in over 30 years.
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)But apparently you're only able to bring one bottle of booze through customs, so I was given one to bring - I think it was gin.
But I really liked the food! And at least I knew what it was. My grandmother loved to travel. She joined a peace group that had a "sister town" in the then-USSR - and invited me to go with her. On the way there we stopped in Finland, beautiful country with really nice people. And they fed us. But I could not make heads or tails what anything was!
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)sound like they were the second coming of The Wild Bunch. That sounds like it was fun times for you! Never been to Europe, much less the old Soviet Union. Some of the European cuisine I've seen could be trouble for me (really picky eater sometimes). But, I do love fish! I've been to Jamaica (they can do wonders with any meat!) and Mexico (Cozumel, Tulum area) and Cayman Islands.
Damn, really loud thunderstorm blowing through here (Lexington, KY). Lightning is close and the thunder is really loud and booming! Wow, thunderstorms in the first week of February. Who'd a thought it.
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)My Dad was a workaholic and was told to find a hobby. When the ship-in-a-bottle didn't work, he started traveling. He and my mother had been to the USSR before me, and he insisted I should go, despite being scared to death. And I was completely wrong. Under Gorbachev, things were improving for the people and they were really pleased to meet Americans - and they're more worldly than we are, most spoke English.
My Dad would spend a whole year planning a trip (they took guided tours) and my Dad was a real "people person," fortunately for them. On one trip they visited Israel, then Egypt (thanks to Jimmy Carter ) and were on a plane headed for Jordan. My Dad struck up a conversation with the gentleman seated next to him, asked "Do you think it'll be as hot in Amman as it is here in Cairo?" And the man answered "This plane does not go to Amman, this plane goes to Baghdad!" They were on the wrong plane and got off just in time or they would have ended up in Iraq! So my father's friendliness paid off! Whew!
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)Yes, friendliness does come in handy sometimes. As far as Russia goes I've always wanted to go to the eastern wilderness areas and Siberia. But, with today's geopolitical environment, not happening. Plus, it would probably cost a shit-ton of $$$$$!
Rhiannon12866
(232,458 posts)It's a beautiful country, a combination of the modern and ancient, plus the people we met (even on the street) couldn't have been friendlier. I feel terrible for the people, they do not deserve the likes of Putin, no one does.
Mr. Evil
(3,248 posts)It's amazing how just one person can destroy so much with impunity. I never understood how or why some humans (in their and our case) gravitate towards deranged brutally cruel despots like that. What does that do for them? People like TSF, Putin, Musk, et al don't give two shits or a diddly damn about people or good governance. But, they sure love destroying stuff. Makes me ill. Why can't we ever have anyone that wants to build and create. Hell, even China is building a MagLev transportation system. We should be doing things like that. But, no... we have to coddle billionaires.
