Lawsuit filed to enjoin Elon from accessing Treasury data

Good move - Elon and his boy wonders are already in the system so can this kick them out? What about the info they've already harvested? And would Elon comply with a court order? My guess is he'd just sneer at it.

@normeisen.bsky.social is busy. He joins with Public Citizen to sue to enjoin Elon from accessing Treasury data for several unions. Claims violation of Privacy Act and IRS laws.

I don't know hard it is to de-naturalize a naturalized citizen, if it even can be done, or under what circumstances, but I assume it would be complicated.

Much as I'd LOVE to send him back to South Africa (or anywhere else that would take him), it may not even be an option.

But like I said, it would probably be complicated. Probably a very long, drawn out process. People have been posting "kick him out" lall over DU, like there would be nothing to it. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work that way, especially with a guy who can afford all the lawyers in the world.

Just trying to inject a note of realism here.

Think. Again.

45. There are three possibilities....
Tue Feb 4, 2025, 06:34 PM
Feb 4

..... access to source code, access to data, and operational control.

- Operational Control:
This would involve making decisions on authorizing or denying a request for payment. I would imagine it would be illegal for DODGY to do this, and whoever is stiffed would know it and have legal records. Authorizing a payment that is not warranted would be a criminal act; it would bee harder to detect but the result would be jail time.

- Data:
Accessing personally identifying data would be illegal.

- Source Code:
This might not be illegal. The organization that DODGY took over was set up to address and correct problems with the ACA web portals during the ACA roll out. So examining source code might be within their portfolio.

If they don't pay someone who is owed, they will be sued, and that might be enough to get a something of a retreat. Same if they have a data spill - public release of confidential or classified information.

If all they are doing is looking at source code, I don't think anything is going to happen.
