This is a must-read article by Thom Hartmann. He explains how Republicans have spent the last five decades building their own power, while Democrats actually tried to improve lives for all Americans.

Republicans are using their massive structural media and social media advantage to try to destroy Gavin Newsom, Karen Bass, and the California Democratic Party.

It follows an old script, that’s recently been played out in Russia and Hungary, among other nations: Want to seize control of a nation and turn it into a neofascist state with the consent of the people? Just take control of the channels of public information and news, and then turn lies about your opponents and their supporters into a perceived reality.

Today, the Republicans own the media in all its forms. While California burns, they are busy spreading the message that the wildfires are due to the incompetence of Democrats. And that's what a large majority of Americans are being told by their local (Republican owned) media.

If you can't read this article now, put it aside and save it for when you can. It's an insight into the massive Republican propaganda machine, how it was built, and how they are using it to attain total, permanent power over all of us.

1. I love Thom and I have no doubt I will agree with what he has written--I'd guess many of us already

know a lot of it. But to read these tomes, I need to know that the author has at least started to address what we can do now to reverse this and to spend at least as much time addressing the solutions as the problem. Otherwise, we risk paralyzing our own from fighting back or resisting.
