Cleaning up some stray errors about the shootings

This is all widely reported now, but correcting a series of erroneous earlier reports helps prevent whatever someone once said on TV about a developing story hardening into an (erroneous) public history.

• The shooter's mother was killed at home before the mass-shooting, not at the school where she taught.

• The only weapons used in the attack were two handguns. (The rifle was in the shooter's car which led to a verrrrrry stretched idea of "three weapons found on the scene&quot

• Ryan Lanza is 24 years old, and the brother of the shooter. (Despite being named as the killer early in the day.) The shooter was Adam Lanza, age 20.

• It has been said several times on TV reports that the shooter is said to have suffered from a personality disorder that is then identified by reporters, directly or implicitly, as autism.

Autism is not a personality disorder. It is is a neurological disorder. A person in the autism spectrum can also have a personality disorder like paranoid, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic, antisocial, etc., but autism isn't a PD. (As far as I know as of today... who knows what the new DSM might say)

(The shooter has been said to have exhibited OCD behaviors. There is a personality disorder called "obsessive-compulsive personality disorder" but I don't think that is OCD proper, which is a diverse bunch of behaviors and fixations. Maybe they have switched up the terminology on me, but unless informed otherwise, I assume that classic OCD problems like the belief you have run someone over, or collecting your urine in jars, or pulling out your hair are not OCPD, which seems to be a narrow category of obsession with order and control... debilitating neat-freakism, over organization)

Oh, well, that's going to mess with the POV of people who want to ban the "Bushwhacker 223" (sic).

-snip-

One of the officials said earlier Friday that a girlfriend of one of the Lanza brothers and another friend were missing in New Jersey. Subsequently, the third official said police had talked with the girlfriend. One of the friends had to be reached in California, so it took some time.
