I am in California in a very blue county, and hope to be isolated from the chaos I suspect will ensue in red and purple areas of the country.
I have seen a lot of positive things happen that are now slowly being erased.
If a 100 million eligible people can't even take the time to vote that is very sad.
I thought women and young people would save the country. I was wrong.
I remember one protester from the Protest marches for the Palestinians call out through the media that was filming him, "enjoy trump".
My response to that idiot would be, YOU enjoy trump, because you and your generation are the ones who will pay for it.
As has been said many times, elections have consequences.

(2,792 posts)They feel like somehow the fallout is going to be limited to "others". This shit is going to affect all of us equally as bad because we are dispersed through the country. I understand this is a concept that trump, and non voters/3rd party, don't seem to understand. We will be able to work together to get through this because we live in reality, see it coming, and will band together to make it. They on the other hand will see nothing, infight, blame, and complain and suffer. It may make me a bad person but I await their suffering and will save any and all empathy for those that didn't bring about this result.

One mail worker arrested for theft of a ballot.
Bomb threats called in at 31 polling locations in ONE urban county. In the same state that had previous caught-on-camera intentional access given to operatives (coffee county)
People dont have a way to share their experiences widely, unlike 2016, because there effectively is no twitter; and online it is drowned out by untrustworthy bots so who knows what to believe?
Ive heard journalists talk about the publics posts on twitter of individual experiences providing information about patterns and lived reality. No longer true, but for a brief moment it was waves of nurses in COVID wards, students from Marjorie Stoneman Douglas, videos of police victims like Tamir Rice and George Floyd.

(296 posts)Ironically, the ones who put the Convicted Felon (he will always be 'the Convicted Felon' in my eyes) over the top, the people he hurt the most and the ones he intends to hurt more, women and Hispanics. More women will die from treatable health issues and brown folks will be crying as they are herded into busses, citizen or not, to be deported. I'm not feeling very much sympathy for them They sh!t their bed, now they can lie in it.
America will forever be a cursed nation so long as it's founding document refers to slavery and human beings as 3/5ths of a person. We are at the threshold of the end of America as a republic and democracy. I have to laugh while reading articles and comments referring to what happened as just another loss for Democrats who have to regroup and blah, blah, blah. If we have a 2026 mid-term it will be for show and only for the purpose of further solidifying the fascists into power. We forget, Hitler was elected before he declared himself dictator withing days. Trump has already been granted full immunity for anything he does in office. SCOTUS will see every act as 'his duty'. Think folks. Look at history. This will not turn out well.

(16,598 posts)The next fire, earthquake or hurricane is going to devastate some place and the government will not be there for us. Trump does not give a shit about California; any federal help for blues states will not happen. Also whatever federal funds states get will be gone, so there will have to be devastating cuts in services like Medicaid or education.

And you know what? I couldn't care less. Let them feel the hurt. Let them die for all I care. Perhaps that will convince others that they were wrong in electing a felonious rapist as their president!
