Metal festival loses bands including headliner when it invites Kyle Rittenhouse

https://www.pennlive.com/news/2024/10/metal-music-festival-loses-headliner-multiple-bands-after-announcing-kyle-rittenhouse-as-guest.html

The headliner, Evergreen Terrace, said:

“Evergreen Terrace has always supported and continues to support philanthropic events for veterans, PTSD awareness, child poverty, and many more, but we will not align with an even promoting murderers such as Kyle Rittenhouse capitalizing off of their pseudo celebrity. Unfortunately, we did not do our due diligence with this particular event. Even after they offered to pull Kyle from the event, we discovered several associated entities that we simply do not agree with. As advocates for free speech we are respectfully cancelling the Shell Shock festival. We will be personally contributing to a veterans charity and urge you to do the same. The promoters have been nothing less than understand. ‘Lines we draw in the sand … depend on where we stand.’”

The headliner is now a Slipknot cover band.

Probably not head banging or moshing as much..but the real is holding the old, treasuring what followed and never stop
searching for what has evolved. And loving it all.

Another article quoted them saying that they wouldn’t give in to ‘liberal cancel culture’ or some BS. Hope they end up with a small crowd of violence seeking freaks.

The music festival boom is over, to begin with. A lot of festivals are going under, and the ones that remain are struggling. No festival is going to survive if it loses acts and puts off fans.

It's one thing if there are multiple bands playing at an indoor venue with actual working bathrooms. But outside with portajohns during the summertime, hell no!

but have no use for anger and violence. I wonder if this stunt has people rethinking their ticket purchases.

I know I don't want to be anywhere near that punk. He lucked out with a tame jury, or he'd be sitting where he belongs, in prison and reconsidering his love affair with his AR instead of prancing around as the darling of the extremist right wing.

Good for the bands who are canceling. Some chucklehead really miscalculated.

Unless we are agreeing that a murdering child is demonstrating PTSD, the management of a rock festival has no business inviting Kyle Rittenhouse to show up on stage.

Remember that conservatives worship selfishness. When they run a charity, you can bet the grift is in.

Telling the truth, every single time I see a charity asking for help with veterans, I feel outrage. Phone cards for active duty soldiers, when our military owns most of the wavelengths and has deep access to communication was a pretty horrible cause. Any time I see a charity for veterans, I think, why? With all the money in the military, it seems insane that every issue is not covered well. Cake sales are for field trips, and should not be for injury, mental or physical when caused by military duty. When I was a child, having access to military medical care was the gold standard in our country.

Conservatives pretend to support the troops, but they never come through with the goods.
