Biden did not seek re-election

It wasn’t his job to do so. It wasn’t something required of him.

Ergo, seeking re-election (or attempting to overturn an election, regardless of whether or not you believe it was fraudulent) is not an official action of the president.

Suck it, Drumpf.

Presidents do many things as president that are not required of them. For example, presidents are not required to visit disaster areas, or honor outstanding citizens, and so forth... but if and when a president chooses to do these things, they are doing them in their official role and capacity as president.

Still, I agree that seeking re-election is not an official duty, it is fundamentally no different than seeking election in the first place (which by definition cannot be an official duty, since at that point, the person isn't president).
