We say anything that faintly looks supportive of the GOP or criticizes Dems and we get censured but I have Lisha Rowe/GOP from PA in three different ads on the page.

(25,040 posts)When I was not a star member, I used to get soft porn ads showing barely clad women in graphically seductive poses. The ads promised even better pics.
I am a heterosexual female and have never visited a porn site or even a women's lingerie site.

(15,137 posts)They're based on the search term since DDG keeps no profile on users, and clears browsing history daily ( who searched what from which IP address) though they do use geolocation based on your IP address to send ads and results from near you, which I find spooky and unwanted.
So I use iCloud private relay, and I get suggestions for the LA area and others.
A VPN would also help in this respect. Google does keep profiles, and though they disclaim it, I think they keep shadow profiles of people who don't have a Google account.
Consider me paranoid, since I ran one of the early websites on the internet and got 300 pieces of spam emails before most people had even heard of email.
