There are always going to be people who want to be argumentative (then again, I'm not sure what the context here is). That doesn't mean you aren't wanted.

(2,599 posts)I enjoy your posts. Stay with us and don't let those who disagree get to you. Nobody agrees with someone 100 percent of the time. It's good to have different opinions when it can be done in a civil manner. Those who are not civil don't count, just disregard.
Believe me I have left many times but I dont post much The sometimes viciousness, especially during a war and election, require taking a break.

But seriously, you were the one who posted this & I've never forgotten it. (paraphrasing)
The networks all serve the right's narrative. Fox reports that Obama cheats at golf. CNN reports that it's not conclusive if Obama cheats at golf. MSNBC reports that it's definitely not true that Obama cheats at golf. All three are discussing a right-wing lie instead of what Obama is really doing.
FYI, one option for dealing with detractors is to tell them to fuck off knowing you'll be put in a time out corner.
Many of us are brainstorming what to do when magats try to steal the election. Desperate times

(15,359 posts)stink so bad they might not go through with it. If it's obvious that some state like Georgia has all kinds of problems and tries to throw the election, we better not just say, they stole it fair and square and let Trump just take over. Trying to fix it in court after the fact will not work.

(106,164 posts)the day and then remember there are many here who do not feel (or very likely do not feel) as your detractors.
I may not know you well, but well enough to believe that you are a fighter. That is what we need right now. Enjoy the day, then come back with a determined outlook. None of us are free from conflict and it is highly likely that if we are opinionated enough (as I know I AM), then we have some staunch detractors. We probably also have some that we have convinced closer toward our opinions on some very important issues. If that happens once--even in a year-- and they go on and convince friends and family on an issue that might "bear fruit" legislative-wise or election candidate choice, we've made even that small difference.
So, take the day.
An addendum: If this is on one specific issue, feel free to PM me. I might have some suggestions as to how to approach posting on a particularly inflammatory issue that can prevent your detractors from having any possible stand to cause you problems with your post. Something I don't always do on my own, but can be dispassionate with others.

(1,450 posts)You will be fine. I have faced many people who have berated me in the past. I still remember people blasting me when I said some Dems do not vote every election and that is why we end up with these SC judges. Off year voting was very bad in the past, especially during Obama years. Some were pretty bad and I decided I am unwanted. Even moderators were saying I cannot speak up against Dems. I had criticized Michelle Obama for not batting for critical Senate candidates. Time moves on. It is 2024.

(17,345 posts)I know I have had posts removed that, out of context, fit the conditions for removal but in context should have been acceptable.
It has taught me to be more careful in how I phrase each individual post so as to not lose the opportunity to state my case.
Sometimes it's all in how you phrase what you're saying and not about what you are saying at all.

(25,635 posts)Lots of new posters jump on board, and some do not always respect others' opinions and will respond with a nasty comment. They don't seem to realize that for the most part we have a common purpose and insulting and disrespecting other DUer's isn't it.
You also have to expect that there will be intruders trying to disrupt our shared support of the Democratic Party and our candidates. Most of the time the Administrators find them and kick them out, or the MIR team will take action.
So stick around. You've been here for a while so don't let a few disruptors or uncivil folks get under your skin. Your best course of action is to ignore them, or if you feel they are disruptors to report them.
Tadpole Raisin
(1,434 posts)Like you I dont like to use ignore. I think its too easy a way to avoid opinions you dont like (unless your bp would go over 200, but then that may say more about how the person handles conflict in general). That said, a free for all is no good either.
Never being on a jury I still realize that this balance is tough to maintain.
It does seem though that once a person crosses some line every post is looked at in the worst possible way and its like a snowball going downhill.
I would fight against at least 1-2 hidden posts and get it reversed but after that find the key words to avoid without compromising your position.

(28,896 posts)I mean, if you're going to get all dramatic and vague-post about leaving, leave. I'm not saying I think you should go, but this is a lot of drama for you to not leave and keep replying cryptically about why you're leaving. Seems like a personal problem you're passing off on DUers so you can continue to be dramatic. Either leave or delete this. IMHO.

EarlG
(22,524 posts)The reason this thread exists is because the OP has had a couple of kooky posts removed by Jury recently, and I did not grant the appeals.
Those removed posts were removals 3 and 4 in the last 90 days. Each time the OP had a post removed they were sent a notification PM. This means that they should know that one more post removal in the next few weeks will result in automatic account suspension.
Now for the advice: Ive been asked a few times why we cant have a cooldown period after five hides, where you are forced to stop posting for a bit and then you can start again when your hides drop off. THIS OPTION ALREADY EXISTS. It exists at four hides, not five. Once you get your fourth hide, you can make the choice to post less, or not at all, or more carefully, until your hides drop off. I am not going to make this decision for you you have to do it yourself.
The other choice you can make at four hides, as the OP has done, is to start a thread complaining about your treatment, trying to get readers on your side by misrepresenting what actually happened, and further breaking the rules by discussing forum moderation. By doing this it is SIGNIFICANTLY more likely that you will get yourself a fifth hide, at which point your choice will be removed because the system will act for you.
Maybe this is what the OP wants, I dont know. I do know that the reason they have started this thread is because I did not grant their appeals, and they have taken this to mean that they are not wanted at DU. If I dont grant your appeals it doesnt mean youre not wanted, it means I agree with the Jury, disagree with the appeal, and I dont want to put your post back.
Im going to lock this thread before the OP manages to get themselves another removal, not to mention the number of other people who have opened themselves up to potential removals in this thread by discussing jury decisions. If the OP still wishes to get themselves suspended no doubt they will find another way to do it, but as far as this thread goes, I am going to help them give themselves another chance, and also take the opportunity to counter the misinformation thats being spread here.
