Thank you.

(1,862 posts)Especially those who fit my profile: older white male.
I have two daughters--both very successful in their fields.
They and my wife have re-educated me at this point. And I'm grateful.
I wish we could get a couple hundred more Katie Porters' in Congress so we could get some of this done.
The slogan: "We're not going back!" has tremendous meaning to me.

(84,866 posts)Ironically enough, I just found an old protest sign I made a few years back, with that message on it: WE WONT GO BACK.

(1,862 posts)My mother was, in many ways, a conformist. She never worked. She was a classic 50s housewife.
But she read and thought. My father and mother had wide ranging discussions about every topic imaginable.
She and my father were horribly flawed. But if you wanted a debate about almost anything my Mother would take you on.
Now that I look back I realized what was different about my house and every other house wherever we lived.
In my house, women were people. Thats the core difference. Many men (and women) in our country dont view women as full people. This is from thousands of years of religious dogma. Christianity explicitly defines females as lesser than men.
Due to this and other noxious Catholic dogma I left the church at 13. Since the Protestant denominations were not any better there was no refuge to move to. So, I became a full apostate.
My daughters and wife helped complete a process that began long before.

(10,904 posts)I am so very sad she is not going to the Senate. She would have been incredible. I hope she runs for either the House or the Senate again down the line. We need her so very badly.
Here's a picture I took of her the day I saw her.
