back in the 60s and 70s when I was poor and thought I could drink. Ripple was the house wine, it was cheap and drinkable.

I'm still a little shocked that Sam Adams isn't a union shop. The original Sam Adams would be disgusted.

Sigh...

it's not my list, nor do I believe it to be completely comprehensive.

If someone feels the need to add to the list, by all means!

Also, there are a lot of cottage industry and employee owned microbreweries around the country which deserve mention, too!

There's a heck of a lot of microbreweries out there.

To be honest even a brewery like Thornbridge in the UK, which is tainted in many people's eyes by family links to the hated "workfare" provider A4E is actually a very good employer.

The one brewery I've heard bad things about from a worker's rights perspective is actually Rogue.

Or their Wiki entry...

Stella Artois ( /ˈstɛlə ɑrˈtwɑː/), informally called Stella, is a 5.2%(4.8% in UK) ABV lager beer brewed in Leuven, Belgium, since 1926. In the UK, Republic of Ireland, Canada and New Zealand, a 4% ABV version is also available.[1] Stella Artois is one of the prominent brands of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer.

I realize InBev bought AB, but technically, Stella is now a product of Anheuser-Busch.

Not that's it's really important. Beside Bass Ale, it's one of the only beers on this poster I would drink. Had a lovely Stella draught at lunch today, in fact.

My lack of fondness for Bass goes back to cans of Bass Shandy when I was growing up. Didn't like it then and I've never been convinced by cask Bass either.

There's plenty of other bitters I prefer ahead of Bass.

locally brewed microbrews.

Hell the place I bought from today only has about 10 workers today (including a couple of office people)

You want a really good beer, buy local microbrewed beer.

Often these places have the owner working on the brewery floor, and while may not be unionized, do keep the money local to help your local economy.

Two local micros in the area are well worth the accolades that they have received at GABF.

One of them are good friends with a buddy of mine, deadheads taboot.

I also homebrew, so I understand right where you are coming from.

This thread was mostly geared towards individuals with a less discerning palate with the holidays coming up, to serve their guests union produced products.
