Congressional Republicans, always eager to show that they put pleasing Donald Trump far ahead of doing anything productive for their constituents, are calling for an investigation into the debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
Trump lost that debate badly. That loss is reflected in post-debate polls where Harris has seen a boost from a performance in which she was reassuringly calm while baiting Trump into dozens of unforced errorsincluding his baseless claims about immigrants eating pets.
But Republicans are now claiming that ABC News, which hosted the debate, provided Harris with questions in advance and promised to fact-check Trump while leaving Harris unhindered. Theyre also claiming that there is a whistleblower willing to detail how ABC helped Harristhough they cant seem to decide if that whistleblower is dead or alive.
Trumps real problem is that hes a loser who never wants to admit he lost. That was true in 2020, and its still true today. To cover up his losing, Trump employs a three-part plan: insist in advance that his opponents will cheat, claim to have won no matter how badly he lost, and then spread conspiracy theories about why he lost.

(10,593 posts)TRUMP is pissed not because she 'knew' the questions, but because she knew the ANSWERS to those questions, because she did actual debate prep homework like a big girl, instead of...well, whateverthefuck that was that Donald did.
Think about that. He's more mad that she got a B+, than he is that he got an F.
And so now all his idjit friends think the teacher is the one who should get dragged into the principals office to answer for what happened.

(39,704 posts)I think ABC did help Harris. They asked trump honest, cogent, relative questions. And we all know how unfair that is.
Republicans spearhead Blowgate as republicans cant find a way to not shut down the government while Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen scrimp to feed their families.

(21,682 posts)You know, I thought she was great, but it wasn't like she gave some super human performance, she is simply a capable, intelligent, and experienced professional talking about subjects she is an expert on. I am a professional and can talk at length about subjects I am an expert on too, it's not rocket surgery. I work with 100s of people who can talk at length and sound just as competent.
Republicans are so used to spewing nonsense and so used to listening to that bumbling idiot who leads their party, that mere competence seems magical to them. She did what any good debator should do, embarrass him and put him in his place, it's not all that big a feat and Hillary came close to it in 2016.

(27,886 posts)Anyone preparing for a presidential debate would know there would be questions on the economy, immigration, reproductive rights, foreign policy and would prepare accordingly.
Just reviewing old debates would tell you that. Donold didnt take debate prep seriously so he had to wing it.
Not that it would have mattered. He has the attention span of a fruit fly.

(6,905 posts)That's the only thing they're really good at.
There wasn't a single unexpected question asked of either candidate.
Only the brain dead MAGA base, that lacks critical thinking skills, could possibly have been surprised by any of the questions.
But then they wouldn't be part of Trump's base if they could comprehend what actually occurred in that debate.
Trump got his butt kicked big time.

(2,165 posts)Is that he is always expecting his Republican cronies and enablers to cover for him and his losses. This makes Trump so darned pathetic that he really can't hold his own on the world stage like an adult, mature world leader is supposed to do. Please set this pathetic loser straight, Coach Walz!

(1,096 posts)Mr. Trump received more time to drone on and on about nothing but vanity than the VP received. Indeed, when Vice President Harris sought additional time to respond, the moderators denied her request.
The fact that Mr. Trump lost so bigly is due to VP Harris brilliance and his inane self-absorption. If he does not think so, surely another debate is the only way to vindicate his absurd self

(8,563 posts)They just throw that out there without any specifics, suggesting Kamala is easily defeatable. She looked pretty solid to me; I didn't see many vulnerabilities. Any elected official who so much as casts a vote can be a target for rock-throwing, whether it is fair or not. But the right's problem is that 1) the last 3 1/2 years have been pretty good, and 2) any deficiencies are more on Biden than her as he is the policy maker.
