I know its a fever dream, but what happens if Trump walks away before the election? Says "America doesn't deserve me!"

By default I suppose Vance has first shot, God help us all. I don't see that Trump would do it as he is too taken with himself, but if he continues to feel humiliated by the election process and sees he has a real good chance of having the vote go against him again, does he save himself another round of being called Loser and prefer just being called a Quitter instead. Sure, he can trot out the Big Lie 2.0 post election but with little serious chance due to age and circumstance of running again in 2028, why bother? I suppose there is the ongoing grift from the fools that send him money for being their ever potential, never to be realized, shining knight but its gotta be getting tired even for him.

... but in doing that Romney and a lot of LDS members would think he was fulfilling the "White Horse" unofficial prophesy.

There will be a time of great turmoil in the Republic and an LSD candidate will arise to calm the water.

I know, just about short enough to fit on a fortune cookie strip.

Latter-day Saint Church founder Joseph Smith went to Washington, DC, in November 1839 in an unsuccessful attempt to obtain help for his persecuted followers.[7] Pat Bagley of the Salt Lake Tribune wrote that from then on, Smith and his followers "considered themselves the last Real Americans" and "the legitimate heirs of the pilgrims and Founding Fathers," who would be called upon one day to save the US Constitution.[8][9] Smith is believed to have said in 1840 that when the Constitution hung by a thread, Latter Day Saint elders would step in "on the white horse" to save the country.[9]

The church does not officially hold this as an official belief and in the 80s they disciplined several traveling speakers teaching this in Stakes and wards.

6. Why couldn't he? He has no contract, he's not even liked by TFG. Can you imagine his debate with Kamela?

He'll go to jail if he loses or walks away. His only shot is winning. Now all bets are off once he does lose. He does have his own 747 and lots of grifted cash.

Only difference is …I’m wondering what happens if the GOP pushes him out of the running? Can they do that? If he melts down completely or strokes out and is institutionalized … what happens?

Does Vance automatically take over? Can they put up someone else?

5. Can't see them pushing him aside unless he is incapacitated. Haven't seen much courage in the GOP of late.

If they push him, half or more of the base just stays home on election day out of disgust and they lose not only the Presidency but the House and Senate too. Boy, that sounds pretty good! Now that is a fever dream but nice to think about!

but the ugly reality is that losing is not an option for him. He'll never accept being labeled a "loser" and, despite his hacks at the SCOTUS, he still has potential criminal exposure in multiple cases. Furthermore, he has created an alternative universe with tens of millions of zombies willing to sacrifice themselves for him.

In most states still. It would much like when candidates quite during the primaries, but are still on the ballots.

walking away saying "America doesn't deserve me!" would be one of the truthful things he would have said in 8 years.
No, America didn't deserve him in 2016 and we surly don't deserve him now.
