Live: Francine Aftermath

I watched it live via webcam on Bourbon St. (Protected area) No damage. But Bourbon St is on higher ground and the buildings act as a windbreak.

Most of New Orleans metro had fairly severe flash flooding from rain.
Kenner had 10 inches of rain.
Storm drains clogged with debri and clogged drains lead to flooding.
This caused back up and some homes flooded with rain water.
Rain water has receded from homes. (But still, yuck)

Power outages etc.

However, unlike other cities New Orleans also relies on pumps for drainage.
A few pumps didn't work for awhile due to outages, but they quickly went back online.
Schools closed etc.

Of course, coastal areas have more damage.

I'm getting a Hurricane Isaac (2012) vibe.

Flooding in homes is yuck, but it isn't fatal. However, this was New Orleans area.
It's gonna be much worse near the coast due to storm surge.

Just a nuisance rather than a life threatening moment.

Today is the 36th anniversary of hurricane Gilbert which destroyed Jamaica from Morant Point to Negril - came right through the island

Here’s the greatest hurricane song ever
