Fires and mass murder at their contractors' factories like Foxconn and workers' dorms in China do not leave a good impression either in China or here, esp when these catastrophes were easy to avoid IF Apple shared its profits more with its contractors. When Apple et. al. squeeze their contractors, it's the workers who suffer, along with the environment.

and foxconn for years over their treatment of workers...

foxconn used to be a great company for people like me (atleast used too, i dont do it anymore) who put together personal computers for sale.. always cheap, always pretty reliable for the price...
id imagine thats why apple got on board with them to begin with...
but around 2005 i started hearing rumors around the net about suicides and their workers.. have tried to stay away from both of their products since.. didnt know apple used them tho until i had already purchased an ipod
oh the price of niftiness

I hate the "corporations are people" line because obviously they only want corporations to have the rights of people, but none of the responsibilities.

Disgusting and horrible. WalMart needs to learn a lesson: do the right thing by your suppliers, employees and customers. OR shut them down. Hold them effing responsible, for God's sake. "Take 6 months off, Wal-Mart, and get your shit together. When you return, IF you can't provide full-time jobs with a living wage and full benefits for you employees AND allow them to have union representation to keep your butt in line.
YOU'RE FIRED! "
