Call Center Manager to Pregnant Employee: We Don’t “Pay You to Pee”

http://wepartypatriots.com/wp/2012/12/04/call-center-manager-to-pregnant-employee-we-dont-pay-you-to-pee/

A lawsuit against National Processing of America — an inbound/outbound call center in Kansas City, KS — claims that the company fired an employee due to her high-risk pregnancy.

April Roller, who had previously been promoted to management in January of 2011, says the company tried to “accommodate” her morning sickness by offering her a larger wastebasket to vomit into. This would limit how frequent her trips to the restroom would be.

RIGHT. MAKE THE PREGNANT LADY PUKE INTO A BASKET IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY.
AND THEN CALMLY SLIDE IT BACK UNDER HER DESK.

Roller also claims that National Processing delayed her family leave paperwork and reprimanded her for wearing the special shoes she needed for her swollen feet. She was eventually demoted and then forced to transfer due to her condition, a transfer she refused:

Same story, even with proper paperwork. ADA only exists for those in wheelchairs in some minds.

so they can save their paid leave time for their maternity leave. If you only get 2 weeks of paid leave a year and you need to take 6-8 weeks or longer, you want to save up as much time as possible, unless you can go on short-term disability.

I'm thinking her decisions were based on her personal finances.
It's just the way it is for most private sector workers in the country.

pay you if you are on medical leave . You have to be out at least 7 days before collecting so either way you lose a weeks pay.

It's not a bad deal but some employees can't afford a additional $35.00 a week pay deduction
Our health care premiums went up another $70.00 a month and the deductible went up another $1900.00 this year alone.

Pretty soon we will be looking at our paychecks and it will be nothing but deductions

or taxpayer subsidized which goes up to, say, 80 employees on a gradually sliding scale (below 50, you pay 10%, then 20%, etc) and drop paid weeks to 6 and 6 unpaid. Or something along those lines

Decades ago I had a boss complain that I went to the bathroom too much during "my time of the month". I told them well if you want to replace my chair every month because there is menstrual blood all over it because I cannot go to the bathroom, then fine. YOU spend that money for a new chair. They shut up after that.
