was, Joe won't make it through the next term, so instead you will be voting for a unpopular black woman.
That's over, and Kamala is popular. Flipping it around, Trump is the oldest nominee in history. He's too old!
Vance is wildly unprepared and unpopular, an isolationist, a Silicon Valley stooge, with the most extreme views on abortion and women, AND he is Mr. Project 2025 himself.
I think this should be a/the focus of Dem ads about TSF's cognitive decline; he won't make it through the next term: Trump is too old. You'll be getting Vance.
EDIT: 'Vote for Trump and you get Vance; 'But Trump is as strong as a bull-moose.'VPs don't lose the nomination. You would get JD in four years time, or earlier if Trump drops dead. But Vance may not win in 2028? So why give him a chance now? I vote Republican. Fine. But before you take the ticket, know the destination. That guy is really weird. ...etc.

(11,366 posts)Even Republicans think he is not qualified, but theyre probably thinking that Trump will last forever. He wont.
I don't think Trump gonna make it to election day.

(21,266 posts)Vance is Trump's Sarah Palin, wholely unqualified and in no way ready.
And another thing that is a factor too, is who will be the VP. People have it in their minds that a ticket is a pair, that they govern as a pair. And even though that's not really true, there's the unknown of who the VP will select as their own VP should they assume the presidency. So people, even if they don't know it, were thinking that if Biden can't finish his term, the Biden Harris Presidency was being replaced with just Harris.

(10,282 posts)Trump is all about Trump, and nothing else.
But Trump's chances of finishing the term are quite low and Vance is simply not ready.
Aging is odd, it's a little biut at a time and then a lot at once. Trump could fall off a cliff any day now mentally.

(10,282 posts)Vance is their man. They won't want to see Trump see out that much of his term.

(21,266 posts)Maybe Alzheimers, which runs in his family, maybe something else.
The media, once again, is derilect of their duty. They had their convention and in the 3-1/2 weeks since, he's done 4 campaign stops and a press conference. If that were Biden not campaigning after the Dem convention, the media would be going on endlessly about how he needs to be replaced. And that's not to mention the speech slurring and lisping last night.

(21,266 posts)Last week was barnstorm, this week is more split up for fund raising, next week the convention, then you will see them doing 2 events a day for at least a week after the convention. And I'd bet they're both already doing debate prep in their free time.
It's a brutal schedule to run a presidential campaign. That's one of the reasons Biden had his own questions, could he keep a campaign schedule like is required to beat Trump.
These campaign stops are still ultra important, there's no faking them. Seeing a candidate in your home state or home town is meaningful to voters close to an election, "Hey, at least this person cares enough to come talk to us."

(48,258 posts)Supposedly, there was fear of Kamala Harris assuming the presidency if Joe Biden died in office.
But . . . . now that she's actually running for office, she's suddenly "popular".
It's the same person.
I don't get it unless you're making an argument for marketing.

(13,337 posts)Trump is the Heritage Foundation's useful idiot to utterly break the separation of church and state by getting Vance into the White House, plus a bunch of extremists riding his coattails through state elections and Project 2025. America wouldn't elect Vance directly, so HF is hitching their wagon to Trump.

(10,282 posts)Trump is unreliable stooge, and becoming less reliable by the month. If Trump/Vance win, he won't be long for this world. The Heritage Foundation did not put all that work into Project 2025 for nothing.
Beartracks
(13,337 posts)You completed my thought process there. They just need Trump to hang in there long enough to get through the election, and if Trump/Vance manages to win, then they wouldn't need Trump anymore. But he certainly does appear to be getting less reliable by the day.

(7,541 posts)Painting Vance as an unacceptably and dangerously radical loser needs to be the second front of political add saturation. Such a lying provocateur as he cannot be allowed near the oval office. If he weren't so short on self-awareness, he might be a genuine person. As he is, he's simply a fraud in every aspect of his public presentation. Point it out at every turn.

(1,213 posts)You know what corrupt judges actually do? Sentence people who commit low-grade felonies like petty theft or TSF's crime the way that they do kidnapping. All other judges understand that the punishment must fit the level of crime committed.
You seem to think the felonies are just short of those for murder or armed robbery. Instead, they're more like the felonies just above misdemeanors like shoplifting and disturbing the peace. And do you really think a rich white guy with 34 counts of disturbing the peace winds up in the slammer? Please.
The most likely sentence he'll get is probation and fines, because that's how most judges rule with a first-time conviction for that kind of felony. The only way the number of times will matter is in deciding how long the probation will be, and how big the fines.

(4,716 posts)It's fun to think about 45 in an orange jumpsuit, but I believe it's not realistic to expect. There's going to be a lot of angry and disappointed people here when the sentence is announced, and I'll be certainly be one of them. But, thanks to my black-hearted cynicism, I won't be the least bit surprised.

(10,282 posts)Vance on the other hand is the bright new ugly object. If you want to draw attention to Trump's age and cognitive decline, Vance is a way to do it. Project 2025? ditto.

(1,170 posts)He's too old to do the job. The biggest attack any candidate can have toward another in presidential politics is the competency of that person. Once their competency is doubted, they're cooked. It's a big reason Trump lost reelection in 2020 and very likely might be why he loses in 2024.
