10. We are lucky - here in the South - Winston-Salem

we have the International Black Theatre Festival here every other year, and I bought it at their market of booths with fabulous things yesterday.
I was the only person there, among probably 500 - 700 who was not black. I figured myself to be albino. I bought that shirt, and a gorgeous bag made by a man from Senegal, and some earrings.

I went to two plays, all sold out to where additional chairs needed to be brought in, and those shows are all over this town. It is a true festival that rocks our city's black population and they come from all around. I hosted 2 friends from Charlotte......

I could talk a long time about coming to this country a hair before 20 years old in 1964 and the folks I met here in the South trying to infuse prejudice against people of color.
I had come from Germany. I told them my country did not own up to what they did, so I had to leave. Don't bother, I said. It's not my fault that Germans are white. Color is beautiful
