Editing to add - I've seen a lot of negativity and fear today. A lot of people looking back at 2016 and seemingly expecting that we are courting disaster with Kamala.
Imo they are wrong. It is not 2016. Women have lost bodily autonomy. We are facing the loss of even birth control - of the ability to escape abusive marriages - or any marriage we decide is not good for us or our families.
Kamala is our strongest candidate imo. She presents the strongest, sharpest contrast to Putin's puppet that we could hope for. Yes, the $ people will come at her hard. That's why she needs us to stand behind her and stay strong and work our GD asses off.

Edit 2: friendly suggestion for all the 'this isn't news' 'this is no big deal' folks - learn strategy please. If someone is a Dem voter and is showing excitement / enthusiasm - GROW THAT - don't minimize it.
A coalition of former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley voters pledged their support for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid on Sunday, hours after President Joe Biden announced that he was dropping out of the race.

The political action committee (PAC), previously known as Haley Voters for Biden, which now features Harris' name, seeks to amplify the voices of former Haley voters in support of Harris' White House bid.
Craig Snyder, the group's director, told Newsweek in an email on Sunday afternoon that the organization believes Harris "is best suited to defeat Donald Trump in November."

(3,921 posts)Saw several focus groups and interviews during the R primaries, and many Haley voters said that both Trump and Biden were too old, and they may just stay home if that's the choice.
Now with Kamala on, it removes the age question for us, and gets back some of those voters.

(3,962 posts)He had been at his kids graduation. Not sure if it was Army or Air Force but VP Harris was the speaker. He says..wow she was really something. I was surprised how sharp she is. No political talk just a great speech. I could vote for her but I wont. I wonder if a debate could change his mind. Not sure if it was the woman or skin color but even with two strikes against her she was able to get into his head!

(55,693 posts)we live in such a sexist and bigoted country. But the reaction today has set my mind to rest. We're going to win this. She's going to do great.
My sister refers to her as the honeybadger, because she'll rip you apart if she needs to and she won't give a shit. I'm ready for some of that.

(115,183 posts)I didn't want Joe to go, but seeing this reaction today has warmed my heart.
Now if they try to oust Kamala - all bets are off. But the loyalty I'm seeing today is extremely encouraging.

They'll try to get their boy, whoever it is, into the VP slot.

(20,663 posts)I think I must have been expecting Biden to bow out without realizing that I was expecting it. I've been kind of hiding from the news this past week and avoiding most of the threads about it on DU because it was all just too depressing. When the news came out today, my heart dropped at first, but once the initial shock wore off, I started to feel better and better.
One thing that has helped me is watching the special coverage on MSNBC and hearing about how much support there is for her to be nominated in Joe's place. I think my second worst fear (after Biden dropping out) was the possibility of the nomination going to someone other than Kamala, and it's looking more and more likely that she WILL be the nominee. I'm actually getting excited about supporting her.
I love Joe as much as anyone, but he's made his decision and it's time to forge ahead now and give our full support to the woman he has endorsed!

(126 posts)this means that their support will port over to Harris. And this will also serve as encouragement for any other Republican who can't stomach voting for Trump and is looking for a viable alternative, just like many independents will. Hopefully this is merely the visible tip of a huge iceberg of support for Harris.

(2,721 posts)They (the pac) could have gone neutral today and withheld their support. They could have done any number of things including backing a gopper to run as an independent or some crazy crap. They could have done any number of things, but they acted fast in supporting the vice president which shows that they're serious and that is a great relief.

(32,761 posts)So, there some Democrats and Never Trumpers who voted for Nikki in the primary, then decided to voted for Biden when it was obvious that Haley would not be the R nominee.
They had a PAC Haley Supporters for Biden. But now that Biden has dropped out, they renamed it to Haley Supporters for Harris.

It simply didn't make sense that Biden would be pulling out this late in the game -- he HAD to have "weaponized" it into an outcome with which the Dem-pire could strike Trump back. Well, with the help of Trump's attempted assassin, I think I've cracked the case.
Multiply Thomas Matthew Crooks by all the Republicans that his martyrdom has liberated from being expected to reconcile being GOP with being MAGA, and we score our cheatproof margin of victory.
