"A ticket we can win on": Jeffries reverses course on Biden ouster calls

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries — the top Democrat in the House — backed the Biden-Harris presidential ticket in a radio interview, publicly reversing position from his private stance that Biden ought to exit the race.

“President Biden, as I've said repeatedly, is our nominee,” Jeffries said in an interview with WNYC’s Brian Lehrer. “He is one of the most accomplished American presidents in our history and he has the vision, I believe the ability, the capacity, and the track record to make a case to the American people that will result in us being successful in November.”

Jeffries, who privately urged Biden to step aside earlier this week citing polling challenges, has since backed down.

“The ticket that exists right now is a ticket that we can win on,” the minority leader told Lehrer. “There, of course, is work to be done. And that, in fact, is the case because we are an evenly divided country.”

I want Joe Biden to stay on and fight, I think he will but I loving seeing Jeffries starting the fight to back up our President.

It seems like the candidates who don't get PAC donations are siding with Biden. We have Greg Casar and Joaquin Castro, who haven't said anything. Jasmine Crockett and AOC are from working class areas and don't seem swayed. Not familiar with other turfs, but I know these candidates aren't getting the "big bucks"

Maybe the DNC Rules Committee meeting on Friday was a factor.

unbelievable things went off the rails this badly. So relieved the DNC made the right decision and hopefully this settles the matter, and will be able to create some measure of unity that can clear up the middy waters created by thesse big PACs.

That's an in-app purchase (iAP) and not budgeted.

If the above is true in this post-truth media age, it's splendid.

"The answer is 42. Now what's the question?"

" Oh. I forgot to ask"

Dear Speaker Jeffries. Thank you for reading my posts.

There's a huge DISINFORMATION campaign afoot. I've seen numerous "finally" posts which would suggest that Jeffries hasn't come out with his support before now. If they listen keenly to his current response they would hear him somewhat chastise the media for questioning his stance on this situation more than once.

In a thirst for ratings through chaos and other nefarious reasons. The American media is complicit in conducting PSYOP against the American people and now even the Democratic base is in a state of confusion and questioning our know knowledge and judgment. We are being GASLIT. I've seen many "if this politician feels this way then something must be wrong because they know more than I do" posts. No. Let us use our own judgment. We have seen the president. We know of his history (he has a speech impediment and he makes gaffes at times). Others in the outside world have also dealt with him. What about the other Democratic politicians who gave him their support, haven't they been presented with the same "secret information"? Assess the totality of the information provided. The president has dealt with other world leaders. Have we heard ANY suggestions from the outside that he is not functional and is declining cognitively? I have seen many world leaders praise President Biden including Netanyahu while they're at odds with each other.

This is 2016 on steroids and even though we have talked a good talk, we (the Democratic politicians and base) were not prepared. WE ARE BEING LIED TO.

I believe the catalyst behind the dissent is money. The donor class has threatened to pull their support for those who back Biden. The dissenters have given Biden an even stronger populous message.

All I heard were rumors. I never heard any confirmation that Jeffries had supported asking Biden to step down.

Goodness, Democratic representatives must be having their inboxes and emails deluged with pro-Biden messages.

The media is so dead-bang certain that Biden can't win. Just like a fat orange nutcase couldn't win eight years ago.
