In other threads here today stating that I would prefer Biden step aside for VP Harris, but that I will both vote for him and donate to his campaign in substantial fashion, as I usually do, if he remains in. Glad to vote for him but don't feel he's really up to it. Would folks here who are more insistent he stay in the race treat VP Harris the same as I just articulated above? Are there those that would not vote, would not give, etc if biden indeed goes and she replaces him? It's hard to tell the answer through folks' (well-deserved) passion sometimes and I'm genuinely curious.

(5,435 posts)then we should trust the system to work for us and we ought to have the kind of enthusiasm and motivation to elect a yellow dog as President of the United States. So a sitting President with a record like Biden, who had one bad debate night, should be an easy landslide because of what we do, not what he does. He's already done what he needed to do.
And if there are people who are sitting on information about Biden's health and stamina, and mental condition and they know something that we don't know, this will blow up in all of our faces and it will be an electoral disaster of unprecedented proportions.
To answer your question, as one who contributes sacrificially and volunteers my time, and even puts my employment in a precarious position by letting people know how I feel, yes, I'd vote for, support and work on Harris' behalf as I am doing now.
As I said, I'd do it for a yellow dog running on the Democratic ticket.

(701 posts)our system should ensure a tyrant like trump can't ascend to the presidency twice. I don't have the trust in the system that you do, I fear. But I like your response and I love the orange "C" in your avatar. Bear down!

(5,435 posts)Can't say we haven't had multiplle opportunities, since that scumbag was elected the first time, to change the rules to keep him out. Convicted felons can't vote, but they can run for President? And at this point, I'm not convinced that a lot of the polling data is being transmitted to the United States by millions of Russian bots.
Last week's Trump rally in Butler, PA drew 7,000, which is less than half of the 15,000 he got when he went there in 2020. It's not that the capacity of the venue was less, there was actually more parking and a larger place for people to gather. But they're not showing up for him as enthusiastically as they did before. And in 2020, he got 5% fewer votes in that county than he did in 2016, in spite of there being a higher turnout.
I used to live near there, in the same county. In 2016, the yard signs and visible support was everywhere. It was there, in a little less of a show in 2020. My former next door neighbor says he's seeing no sign at all, of the kind of support he got back then, and there's no talk at all in the city countil meetings of the small town where he lives and serves on council. In 2020, 5 of 7 council members voted for Trump. Same council now, and there are just 2 trump voters on it, 2 staying home and three Biden voters. Anecdotal, yes, but those things are sometimes a better indicator of enthusiasm that polls don't always know how to measure.

(44,155 posts)and the nominee, I would support her 100%, but Im suspicious this is not what elected Dems expressing doubts are envisioning. And even though Id happily vote for her, its not a given that shed do better against Trump than Biden. There are unfortunately voters out there who would vote for a white male, but not a woman of color.
