General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsPOLL: Do you plan to watch the first presidential debate (live)?
Rather than 'anecdotal' responses, it would seem more scientific to post an actual poll, which I can do, so I am.
ScrippsNews and ABC are reportedly going to simulcast it, so you don't need to have cable to see it on CNN...
Edit: Also now reported as being carried by CBS and NBC, so hopefully anyone interested will be able to find it--
although it will be up to local network affiliate channels whether they broadcast it or not-- seems like most of them would.

(5,410 posts)but the news coverage of the coverage lacks definitiveness. LOL
But everybody seems to want in on it, as well they should....

(6,055 posts)I dont want to listen to Assholes screaming, irritating voice. He sounds like a 5-year-old stuck in an adults body.
DemocraticPatriot
(5,410 posts)sending the 5-year-old to his corner....
I can tolerate watching Trump dissolve into a screaming shit-puddle on the floor,
with President Joe talking half of the time... but I understand not wanting to listen to Trump--
I quit watching any news at all for 3 years after 2016,
until the coverage of COVID and the 2020 election in 2020...
I anticipate screaming epithets at Trump talking,
in-between sips of beer.... and shouting "YES!!!" at President Joe Biden!

(53,315 posts)His voice is like nails on a chalkboard but worse. My mental state is too fragile to risk it.
Watching him for more than 30 seconds would make me a masochist.

(5,410 posts)ha ha, charade you are!'
(paraphrased Pink Floyd for those who don't get it, but "BigmanPigman" obviously will! LOL)
Big man, pig man
Ha, ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel
Ha, ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying 'Keep on digging'
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find
Down in the pig mine?
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry
Bus stop rat bag
Ha, ha, charade you are
You fucked up old hag
Ha, ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hatpin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry
Hey you, Whitehouse
Ha, ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse
Ha, ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
You got to stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry

(53,315 posts)Even my dogs liked it (they had no choice since I'd play it non-stop in my car for years and years).
An old WKRP in Cincinnati had it on one of their shows....the dogs barking.
I still laugh at it....

(2,136 posts)I'll catch the highlights after. No reason to subject myself to listening to Trump for any amount of time.

(71,997 posts)Easier to watch it after the fact and in small doses.

(3,101 posts)He said he will try and go over it afterwards, so people who want to listen to it without interruptions can do that. I can't stand the sound of Orange Foolius but I will enjoy listening to Hal take it apart after it is over.
