It's why I only watch Nicolle Wallace on cable news. Andrew Weissmann reminded everyone that the normal decision for the court to do would have been to lift the stay placed on the trial so that judge Chutkan could have taken care of pre-trial stuff to get ready for trial. The Supreme court not only delayed deciding the ridiculous immunity appeal, but it kept the stay in place which makes it impossible to have a pre-election trial.
The decision on immunity is moot, as Weissmann and others said yesterday, the Supreme Court basically gave TSF immunity already because of delaying the trial until after the election.
For everyone waiting eagerly to hear the decision, TSF already won, the decision will only tell us how much he won.
Also, this court will decide another huge matter, did the unwashed Magats who stormed the Capitol impede an official proceeding of Congress? This reminds me back when I was kid listening to Groucho Marx say, " Who are you going to believe, me, or your lying eyes?" I laughed at Groucho, I thought it was a joke, this isn't a joke.

(48,554 posts)has absolute immunity, that will impact Independent Voters.
Face it, NOTHING will change a single MAGA voter's slavish devotion to his/her "Leader".
The Independents will first be dubious, and hopefully later, repulsed by the actions of TSF. And they will keep him from returning to the WH.
And then TSF will truly face his justice.

(24,620 posts)Waiting 18 months before investigating TSF mattered.
Robert Mueller would have indicted TSF for 10 obstruction of justice crimes, and would have indicted "individual one" for campaign finance violations. The only reason that Mueller did not indict TSF was because he was a sitting president and because of that DOJ memo about not interfering in an election.
What happened next, after TSF lost the election was that Merrick Garland chose not to indict TSF for either of the 2 crimes. Alvin Bragg picked up the ball and ran with it. Time did matter however, the statute of limitations had run out to indict TSF for the misdemeanors involved in the Stormy Daniels trial, Alvin Bragg could only indict TSF for the felonies because DOJ decided to not prosecute.
Where would we be today had Garland appointed Jack Smith right away? I posit that TSF would be sitting in 2 courtrooms.
Garland was confirmed March 10, 2021 and Jack Smith was appointed Nov. 18, 2022. All that time was wasted.
How many people had DOJ indicted from TSF's inner circle? Navarro and Bannon were indicted because of criminal referrals from the J6 select committee for blowing off subpoenas. 4 months in prison, better than nothing I guess. Who else has DOJ indicted?
The states have indicted numerous people, a long list of TSF's inner circle, but DOJ has not.
Dana Nessel will make a fantastic US Attorney general in 2025.

(47,277 posts)The case doesnt go away unless they grant Trump immunity. They wont do that, IMHO, if they have to give Biden immunity, too.
Yes, theyve given Trump immunity up until the election. Afterward, it could be a different story.

(47,277 posts)And to that extent the Supremes granted immunity. But it likely wont last forever.

At this point, it probably doesnt matter who did it.

(2,664 posts)on the 14th Amendment challenge by Colorado, keeping Trump on the ballot there. The Court took only one day to hear and decide the Bush/Gore case. It's been four months since the Court agreed to hear Trump's immunity claim, almost assuring there won't be a trial before the election. It's an obvious demonstration of bias.
