Steve Benen:
. Susan Rice will head to Capitol Hill today where shes scheduled to meet with the same Republican senators whove spent a few weeks trying to destroy her reputation
. it now appears Rices nomination to replace Hillary Clinton at the State Department is practically a foregone conclusion
.
. the White House is giving McCain, Graham, and Ayotte some special attention and a way out of their own mess. They can, in other words, come out of todays meeting saying, We had serious questions, and were glad Rice took the time to answer them. If they then drop the filibuster threat, theyd look less ridiculous.
At least, thats the idea. In practice, the GOP campaign against Rice has always been detached from reality, and facts from Rice and Morell may not matter, but from the administrations perspective, it cant hurt to try.

(10,942 posts)What the Obama people seem to be setting up is that even if McCain, Graham and Ayotte persist in their stupid charade, they will get body slammed by most of the rest of the Senate and crushed during the confirmation vote. Of course the Three Imbeciles will get some republican vote support, that is how the idiot party operates.

(128 posts)what they disagreed on. Just vague accusations, enough to keep this whole thing going. All three should be ashamed of themselves.
