GOP stops Sportsmenís bill on budget violation

By Ramsey Cox - 11/26/12 06:46 PM ET

Republicans stopped Sen. Jon Testerís (D-Mont.) Sportsmenís Act dead in its tracks Monday evening.

The Sportsmenís Act, S. 3525, would have increased access to federal land for hunters and fishermen, while also supporting conservation measures, but Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) raised a budget point of order, saying Testerís bill violated the Budget Control Act.

Democrats tried to waive the budget point of order, but the motion failed on a 50-34 vote Ė 60 votes were needed.

1. So is this a case where filibuster reform would have helped?

Where are all the pro-hunter NRA types on this one?
