(2,795 posts)He tried to tell me it was a sign of the devil and it was a crucifix that had been turned upside down and slightly changed to be disguised as a sign of the devil.
I told him he was wrong, it originated as the symbol of nuclear disarmament. I told him to go look it up and preferably somewhere other than one of his right wing nutjob website
These religious nuts out there are so gullible and stupid and so easily frightened. It's scary there are so many in this country.

(12,132 posts)the fundie church I grew up in (in the 70s) used to say that all the time. Man they hated some hippies.

(6 posts)I have never had anything even remotely similar happen to me. I am blown away by how many people on DU put down "fundies" in their area when it's obvious that they do not resonate at that vibrational level.
So move. See how amazing the libruls act.
meadowlark5
(2,795 posts)Nor should anyone. The fundies and conservatives work on the basis of intimidation. If everyone were to move away from where conservative nutjobs live or adapt their lives in anywya because of their lunacy, then it might give the nuts the false impression that the louder and more obnoxious they are the more power they have. That's the last thing I want them to think.
They just need to be told to shut up and ignored.
Canuckistanian
(42,290 posts)I don't think they exist outside the tortured minds of these fundies.
Oh, sure, there are people who call themselves Satanists, but they do it more for the shock value more than any coherent ideology.

I saw an entry where someone was talking about the town

Right away the person answered that it wasn't wise to share information

I was confused by that answer and then I figured out
that the person must be telling me to LOG OFF LINE...so I did.

(39,961 posts)This is as nutty as something my sister said once. She was going to a Baptist College, and started getting mixed up with some rabid evangelicals. She came home over the holidays, and we were in the store shopping and she pointed at Rainbow Brite dolls and exclaimed - "Those are the tools of Satan! They use rainbows and unicorns as tools to give people a false sense of happiness, much like when AT&T says "Good Morning" and Have a nice day." People need to be aware that these things are trying to start a happy wave (whatever the fuck that meant, I was kind of like, so what people are happy, and that's bad to myself).
It was so ludicrous, I told my mother about it, and she point blank told my sister that if she didn't quit going to that "nutjob" church, she could move back home from college. LOL.
It was priceless. Fundies are some of the most gullible people on the planet.
ON EDIT: Yours may have been satire, but my sister was 100% batshit crazy serious. Never underestimate the ridiculousness of people who get caught up in these charismatic evangelical churches. They are fucking lunatics the lot of them.

Funny, they even snuck in the "Everyone but God is Satan!"
Lucifer = Satan
Pan = Satan
Zeus = Satan
Loki = Satan
Democrats = Satan
Your Cat...SATAN!
If you listen to them, Satan's got the market cornered on being everywhere and knowing everything.
