Ocasio-Cortez demands GOP specify actual crimes in Biden impeachment inquiry
by Rebecca Beitsch - 03/20/24 1:20 PM ET
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) pressured the GOP to name the crime they are accusing President Biden of as they proceed with their impeachment inquiry.
Ocasio Cortez noted the recent arrest of a former FBI informant for lying to the agency, fabricating the claim that Biden accepted a bribe while vice president to take actions to benefit the Ukrainian energy company where his son served on the board.
I have yet to hear in the chairmans opening the allegation that they are specifically charging the president of the United States with. I am hearing about the Biden family. I am hearing about this and that. I am not hearing the specific allegation by this committee. What is it? It is not here. And that is the problem, she said.
The story is when this committee knew they were working with falsified evidence? That is the story.

She tells it like it is, that's why she faces so much opposition.

(5,411 posts)DEMs didn't impeach Trump TWICE just because he's a Republican, or they don't like him, or he smells bad and lies about his wealth. They had REAL crimes to charge him with, and they were transparent about what they were investigating.
GOP is just making noise re Biden.

(11,461 posts)Trying to claim that TFG didn't do the things he was accused of was never a realistic option. His only defense was to try to claim they weren't really crimes, which just didn't work, or there was some reason he shouldn't be held accountable, and we all know why that one DID work: Senate Republicans who blatantly and shamelessly put party over country every time.

(2,583 posts)It's all a failed vendetta not only against a successful sitting president, but against the majority of American voters who chose him. The vendetta is a specific request of their party leader who lost the last presidential election and is now encumbered with dozens of indictments for his criminal activity. So here we are with this attempted smear campaign from a party that complains about a crisis at the border, but refuses to act on it so they can spend time damaging their own reputations with this fake impeachment inquiry.

(95,972 posts)I missed Parnas' testimony and I couldn't stomach the BS that was going on so I bailed. I will watch the video of Parnas' testimony when someone kindly posts a video of it.
Guess I don't have the stomach for sham hearings. I want to enjoy the rest of my day.

(57,446 posts)In Belgium, when an arm of the financial police wants to "get" someone, but has nothing on them, they make up 100 different accusations out of thin air, and hope that the accused says they are "only" guilty of two or three of them, at which point, the authorities shout, "aHA! gotcha!"
They tried this with a man I know there, harassed him for twelve years, even got a conviction from a judge who commented that if the accused had so much stuff thrown at him, well some of it must be true. They even went down to Geneva in Switzerland, telling their counterpart Swiss cops they were after a secret prostitution ring being operated by Belgians right under their noses. The Swiss were at first appalled. When they did their own investigation, and found out it was all make-believe BS, they were furious at the Belgian cops for wasting their time with a made-up fantasy. It wasn't all in vain, though. The Belgian cops at least got a nice taxpayer-paid vacation in Switzerland, which is not cheap. Last year, the "case" was all thrown out on appeal, with the appeals judge having harsh words for the authorities that instigated the "investigation" in the first place. But it did take twelve years.
It sounds like our Republicans are trying for a little Belgian-style "justice." Accuse the Bidens of everything under the penal code, and hope that something--anything--sticks.
