"The people of Gaza are paying the price for Hamas's stupidity."
Tawfik Okasha, an Egyptian media personality and former MP, heavily criticized Hamas over their actions on October 7 and the consequences that followed in an interview with KAN News on Tuesday.
When commenting on the current war, as well as the October 7 massacre, Okasha said, "I mourn for every death on the Israeli side and every death on the Palestinian side, but I do not mourn Hamas personnel that have been killed because they are a terror organization that has profited from the Palestinian issue. They are an organization that turned Egypt into a no man's land, and its hands are covered in the blood of Egypt. I will not forget it."
He continued in his criticism of the organization, saying, "Hamas corrupted the Palestinian cause as well as led to the loss of opportunities of reaching a two-state solution because of their uprising against the PA in 2007. Hamas profited from the fact that the Palestinian issue hasn't been solved and has harmed the Palestinian people in the most egregious ways.

Whereupon Hamas plans more 10/7 massacres as many as it takes until all the Jews are gone and Israel is wiped off the map. Over and over.
Hamas needs dead women and children. The more the better for their purposes (theyre a death cult but thats another thread). Theyre counting on gullible rubes falling for Kremlin propaganda about Israel so Hamas lives on

The more innocents who suffer and die in Gaza, the more the world blames Israel - helped along by the Russian and Chinese propaganda that launched at the same time as the horrific October 7 attacks.
It's a cynical, horrible calculation. It was deliberate and it's going according to plan.

8 Oct 2023
The groups audacious Saturday attack on Israel has triggered a bloody bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian armed group Hamas on October 7 launched a surprise attack into Israel in one of the most serious escalations in the Israel-Palestinian conflict in years.
When was Hamas formed and what is its aim?
The Hamas movement was founded in Gaza in 1987 by an imam, Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, and his aide Abdul Aziz al-Rantissi shortly after the start of the first Intifada, an uprising against Israels occupation of the Palestinian territories.
The movement started as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and created a military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, to pursue an armed struggle against Israel with the aim of liberating historic Palestine.
It also offered social welfare programmes to Palestinian victims of the Israeli occupation.

(3,823 posts)for the actions of terrorists. The terrorists themselves should've been surgically targeted. But of course that is not what IDF/Netanyahu wants - he wants to use this as an excuse to destroy/remove Palestinians so he can claim the territory for himself.
Hamas's attack killed 1200 Israelis - IDF has killed 30,000 Palestinians and displaced many more. That is not a proportionate response - unless one believes that the lives of brown-skinned Muslims are worth far less than the lives of white skinned Judeo-Christians.

America must face up to Israels extremism
The resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza is slowly becoming a key official policy of the Israeli government.
Two far-right members of Israels Cabinet the national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and the finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich caused an international uproar this week with their calls to depopulate the Gaza Strip. If in Gaza there will be 100 000 or 200 000 Arabs and not two million, the entire conversation on the day after will look different, said Smotrich, who called for most civilians in Gaza to be resettled in other countries. The war, said Ben-Gvir, presents an opportunity to concentrate on encouraging the migration of the residents of Gaza, facilitating Israeli settlement in the region.
...
But its not clear, because were writing a blank check to a government whose leader is only a bit more coy than Ben-Gvir and Smotrich about his intentions for Gaza. According to The Times of Israel, Netanyahu told a Likud faction he is searching for countries that residents of the Gaza Strip can be sent to. Our problem, he reportedly said, is finding countries that are willing to absorb Gazans, and we are working on it. The newspaper reported that the voluntary resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza is slowly becoming a key official policy of the government, with a senior official saying that Israel has held talks with several countries for their potential absorption.
...
Pro-Israel Democrats want to back a war to remove Hamas from Gaza. But increasingly, it looks as if America is underwriting a war to remove Gazans from Gaza. Experts in international law can debate whether the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza can be classified as genocidal, as South Africa is claiming at the International Court of Justice, or as some lesser type of war crime. But whatever you want to call attempts to thin out Gazas population as Hebrew newspaper Israel Hayom described an alleged Netanyahu proposal the United States is implicated in them.

IDF/Netanyahu is working from the Putin playbook of attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure - to maximize misery and drive them off their land so he can claim it for himself.
Unfortunately for him - the world is seeing what is going on. Many key constitutencies (youth, women, PoC, etc) are rejecting the typical Western knee-jerk support for Israel - which cannot be allowed to conduct this one-sided brutality.

(11,599 posts)Both Hamas and IDF made their intentions clear on this matter. To state otherwise is to completely and willfully disregard the well documented record of statements coming from each.
And speaking of complete disregard, are you by any chance trying to deflect from what Tawfik Okasha, an ex-member of Egyptian Parliament, is saying?

(65,312 posts)Many Israelis are not "white skinned." Many people don't perceive Jewish people as "white."
I can't speak for others, but I think this racial framing is incorrect. The conflict in the middle east can't be simplified into a "white oppressors vs. indigenous victims" narrative. Many Israelis have always lived in Palestine, for thousands of years. There have been Jewish people in the Middle East for thousands of years. Judaism predates Islam, if you want to get technical. The ancestors of today's Muslims were either Jewish or pagan, as were the ancestors of today's Christians.
Don't shift the blame for the United States' history of genocide and slavery to Jews. We white Christian people did that.

(65,312 posts)I assume you are in Israel. Here in the United States there were large, well-organized rallies on October 8 - less than 24 hours after the terrorist attacks on Israel. People gathered in public spaces and praised Hamas. There were pro-Hamas posters with drawings of paragliders. Local chapters of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Black Lives Matter (BLM), Sunrise Coalition, and other groups immediately had very similar talking points. These talking points, memes, and images spread on TikTok, Twitter, and other platforms like wildfire. This was all advertised as spontaneous and grass roots. It was not. It was the definition of astroturf.
One of the talking points equates Israel with the US history of oppression, including our history of slavery and genocide. The complex history of the Middle East is replaced with a cartoonish simplistic story in which "white" Jews decided to "invade and occupy" Palestine, with the help of "Western capitalists," putting the "brown, beleaguered Palestinians" in "open air concentration camps" and "how can the world tolerate this atrocity." It is "genocide and ethnic cleansing."
The actual complicated messy history of the region is ignored in favor of a simplistic good guys (brown) vs. bad guys (white) narrative. Every antisemitic trope I've ever heard (and some that were new to me) is trotted out to trigger people's implicit biases (and maybe, it turns out, not so implicit after all, sadly).
As a white American woman, culturally Christian, with no Jewish heritage, I am appalled by this antisemitic talk and erasure of historical facts. People who ought to know better have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by Russian propaganda. They need to read 1984 again.
