MJ Lee @mj_leeHe grabbed my hand and looked at me in the eye.
I spoke with one Detroit man about his half-hour ride with President Biden in the presidential motorcade today. https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/01/politics/a-ride-with-joe-biden/index.html

As the motorcade began to make its way through the Detroit suburbs to They Say a local restaurant in Harper Woods Darren Riley said the president wanted to dive in right away. During the course of the half-hour ride, Biden inquired about Rileys upbringing and childhood, education and his business.
He really asked me who I really am, and what Im about, he said.
Riley who runs his own environmental tech company called JustAir said he never could have imagined having a conversation with the president. Then with little warning, he found himself with the surreal opportunity to ask the president of the United States for some advice, on everything from his company to how he could be a better leader.
He grabbed my hand and looked at me in the eye, Riley said. The president, according to Riley, told him that it didnt matter whether the issue was something significant, like politics, or a little more trivial, like sports teams.
Even if youre on different sides of the spectrum its important that were in this together. You have to build that rapport and that trust, Biden told Riley.

And there was one thing in particular about watching Biden up close that had surprised him, Riley said. He was aware of the clips circulating online that highlight the presidents mistakes and fumbles tripping over his words during remarks, for example.
He talked about multiple topics, the things hes juggling and navigating and processing. He is very sharp, Riley said. That man? Hes sharp. Hes with it.
Mr. Riley voted for Biden in 2020 and plans to again in 2024.

Gee. That doesn't sound at all like what Corporate McPravda has been reporting.
Thank you for delivering the truth, bigtree.

I had no idea President Biden was in my neck of the woods today, but for some reason the sun has been shining on and off, and I do believe it's because Dark Brandon brought the sun to our cloudy city for the first time in days!

(5,055 posts)He's giving himself a reward for doing the campaign stuff. Just getting a chance to really talk with people from all walks of life is food for his soul. And it's a very big soul to feed.
It's not a affectation, he really wants to know people, what they are dealing with, what gives them hope and strength, what they could use some help with. Leaders like that are the real deal and, sadly, do not come around often enough.
I am truly grateful for Joe Biden in the White House. He has put together a great team, probably because really caring, smart people want to come work with him.

(43,432 posts)Not with a big agenda, but it will serve one, that of cutting through the dementia bullshit. The editing and one-sided opinions from those who DO have an agenda, to discredit him or just to keep controversy going. One on one conversations will naturally be shared. Hey, have them with some non-crazy 45 voters.

(3,427 posts)If his accomplishments and more of his speeches were covered well by the press, just think how he would be a shoo in! The ageism is unconscionable. Even friends of mine (all of us in our 70s) express doubts because of that. Yet we are all clicking on all four cylinders and draw on the lessons of our lifetimes to be wise and positive contributors even in retirement.
The relentless harping on age is one factor. Experiences with our parents' generation is another. But there's so much variability in people as we age. And Joe Biden is an exceptional human being with deep experience and a great team around him. Now to ensure those flirting with the third parties see it too
