The courts were given 60 ridiculous appeals to rule on. Is a whale a fish? Oh my god the courts ruled that a whale is a mammal, they saved us. What the hell did we expect they would say? Trump has no legal defense for his many crimes, when we get him to court, he loses.
All that matters now is time.
The DC court must take its time to rule on whether to give Trump the right to murder someone. Oh Dear, they better get this right, it needs to withstand an appeal at the Supreme Court. Bull Shit!
I can make the argument that it is harder to rule on 2+2 =4 than it is to rule on allowing Trump to murder someone.
Let's get going DC court, the Jack Smith trial is already delayed until April. All pre-trial activity is halted, it takes 2 months to pick a jury.
What matters with the DC's decision isn't about allowing trump to murder someone, it is about what happens with the stay, how will that court treat the stay, and fucking time is wasting.
I get fucking sick of hearing the courts are our guard rails. The courts are well aware of what Trump is doing. (see Eh-Lean Cannon)
When the DC rules against Trump's appeal, please do not say, look the guard rails held, no that won't be the determining factor, it will be how it treats the stay, and it has already taken way too long to rule.
Time Matters.

(3,254 posts)Time has passed for this to be dealt with in the "justice" system. Trump has been and always will be above the law. Courts are not going to do anything to change that. All we can do is vote against every republican and change the court system from within Congress. Kill the filibuster, expand the court and sue the hell out of the bastards trying to take down our democracy.

(24,235 posts)there is still time, and E.Jean Carroll held Trump accountable, and Letitia James held Trump accountable.
As Carroll said, Trump is now the emperor with no clothes. I am a dummy and I can see it. Trump is losing his luster, the curtain is being pulled back, and he looks scared.
DC court, give Trump one week to appeal and then the stay comes off.
Jesus Mary and Joseph, courts have shown they can expedite important matters, and this is an important matter.

(17,668 posts)The first, immunity (aka the merits of the case) is obvious to us all
However, the panel may be struggling to find unanimity on this question, and may end up ruling on the second question, which is jurisdiction- does this court even have the authority to rule on this question?
IIRC, Henderson, the Republican on the panel asked and entertained much discussion around the issue of jurisdiction. She could certainly be overruled by the others, but they may be seeking a path to unanimity to expedite the appeal that is sure to follow.
As for the stay, I believe Smith asked for five days, but if the court is mute on the topic, the default rule is a 30 day stay to file the appeal, at which time the stay is extended pending the next appeal.
Much, much more info here (although should be updated as one of the timeline dates has already passed):

(24,235 posts)Norm Eisen again?
If the Appeals court felt it didn't have jurisdiction it certainly wouldn't take a month to decide that, it should have done that within a week or 2 at the most.
I believe the discussion is over how to treat the stay. No one in his/her right mind believes they are debating about giving a president the freedom to murder people.
Time Matters. This decision took way too long and I am sure that this court is aware of the importance of time and it should have considered that importance.
There is another option: the 3 judges are considering the threats to their lives and the lives of their families.

Unlike many TV lawyers, They dont always tell us what we want to hear, but they do tell us what we need to know to clearly understand these legal issues.
