Israel's mission in Gaza is not about security -- so what is it about?

(CNN) -- Let's be clear: Israel's latest operation in Gaza is not about security. Cease-fires between Hamas-ruled Gaza and Israel have brought security for months on end and there is ample evidence to show that Israel is largely responsible for truce breakdowns.

Israel decided to escalate the conflict last Wednesday with its assassination of Hamas leader Ahmed al-Ja'abari despite a truce that had been observed by all Palestinian factions during the previous two days.

The author is a Palestinian media commentator. CNN is merely printing it has an op-ed piece. The piece is pure propaganda.

It was a test, see if their IRON DOME worked...who better to hit you with rockets in retaliation? Also a test for Egypt, would the side with Gaza? It appears so far they will stand by the 1979 agreement.

I also think it was a test for a bigger target...if one day they had to hit Iran.

Unfortunately, a number of Israeli citizens have been killed in the process. Tough luck for them I guess.

Hamas has been shooting rockets for weeks now. No government in the entire world would sit by and let up to a million of its citizens being sitting ducks to rocket fire. Except one you ran, I guess.

The Israeli government does not want peace with the Pals, it wants them ethnically cleansed.
