My simple question: Will the actions of Hamas or Israel change the status quo?

More to the point, can the chosen actions of either actually change the status quo for the better?

I don't think so. Each side is fighting a losing battle with the course they have chosen.

The only place this leads is eventually someone with more anger than sense gets ahold of something worse than a rocket or missile, and everyone loses.

Hamas is the only legitimate representative of the Palestinians and it will be supported by all the Arab Spring governments and Turkey.
